I haven't had that problem with anything so far. Hardware or software player?
If this is news to you, it most likely IS the player. It doesn't like ANY DVD we throw at it.
Not true. It's been playing a lot of DVDs just fine. It only seems to glitch up on certain ones, and then only at certain points.
Play it on the computer first and if it still glitches up like that THEN I'll believe it's the discs fault. I just can't believe that we've managed to purchase 10+ dud discs in the past year, Mr. "WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN?!"

Who said anything about dud disks? You know those played fine on the PC. If they'd been bad discs, I would have ordered them returned for replacement.

It's probably something to do with the way those disks were authored that the PS2 doesn't like. But that doesn't change the fact that it can play most of our discs just fine, while you said "ANY DVD".

Also, when the hell did this board implement a limit to quote nesting?

Wow, this last menu on disk 1 is screwy.

For anyone wondering how the heck to get to videos #20 and (especially) #22: first you have to go to #24 and hit left, which brings you to #20; and only then can you hit down to go to #22.

I only got through about 15 of the videos last night but I gotta say I quite enjoyed several of them. Which is a nice change of pace. If the second disc is better then I think its a pretty good contest this year. The first 8 videos had a couple I really enjoyed.

also if you want to quickly jump through every video they're labled as ever odd title after the first one if you want to see the title cards just go to the even titles.

So here's my question. How many of you are actually burning the DVDs and playing them on a standalone player? And of those of you that are, is that a really big deal to you (as in, you wouldn't want to watch them any other way?)

I'm asking because, it seems like doing it this way is starting to become fairly archaic and out-dated. It seems like it'd make more sense to just provide a downloadable pack of just standard video files. It'd be way smaller and easier for people who just want to watch them on their computer. Obviously I don't have any firm data on this but my guess would be that around 75-80% of people would probably be perfectly fine with this and the people that like the DVDs would more than likely be content with doing it this way.

Not only would this make downloading the videos much faster, but it'd save time from the coordinators standpoint where they don't have to mess around with creating DVD menus (that always seem to have bugs), it'd be less likely to screw up as far as syncing/AR goes. Just seems like it's time to give up the ghost and get with the times :o

Being able to just pop those disks in and play them in any DVD player over my HDTV (or anyone else's) is an enormous convenience. Watching them on my computer monitor just can't compare, and it's certainly much less attractive as far as the remote prospect of one day inviting people over for an AWA Pro party is concerned.

Plus, this way there are no compromises on video quality.

I prefer the DVDs. Usually me and Todd get together to watch the Pro vids, and it's less hastle to just have them on a DVD to play them on a TV screen in the living room or basement (depending on who's place we're at). If you want to get with the times, have blu-ray image files available for download to burn :\
