Help With Adobe Photoshop CS3. Please Advize.
I need help. I finally have Adobe Photoshop CS3, but the layout is extremely greek to me. So, I need some tutorials on how to use it, for making banners sigs, and how to edit video with it. The only time I have used photoshop on my videos is when my friend had some spare time to do the stuff I wanted.
But now that I have a new rig that is MORE than capable of using it and After Effects, I could really use the help. The best advice that you all could possibly give would be a big help to me.
I'm looking for general advice on using effects and creating sigs, banners, and importing my video to edit it in photoshop.
Thanks in advance guys.

Well I'm not quite certain why you'd want to be editing video in photoshop, especially when you seem to have aftereffects...
*goes to find guides he used when starting out with sigs and such...*

Any help will be apppreciated.
I just heard you could do some cool things with the video using photoshop. I'm kinda ashamed that I have to use this as an example, but I would say kinda like how Skittles did it? I thought I remembered koop saying he used Photoshop, but I can't remember.

PS has a very powerful set of tools designed specifically for paint and image manupulation. AE has a cut down version of these tools, in addition to a complete toolset designed for video. Unless you actually need the PS tools for a particular task/effect, throwing video in there *just because you can* isn't going to yield any useful results.
I would suggest you hit the adobe website and watch the intro videos for the apps you're interested in.
Use photoshop to create banners and posters and whatnot to familiarise yourself with the interface and toolset. Use AE for roto, effects & animation.
Once you're comfortable with what PS does for stills and AE does for video, you will start to appreciate how they can both fit into your video editing/effects pipeline and complement each other.

cs3 isn't that different, you can still open an image sequence and scrub in the animation panel.AaronAMV wrote:get cs4

well for beginners of making signatures and banners, i would recommend finding brushes off of sites like deviantart and etc.
but if you don't want to do use brushes, you can always smudge some stocks using the photoshop default brushes by setting up the scatter (what i sometimes like to use) and shape dynamics in the brush menu to your liking.

Took me about 3 years to get fully used to the photoshop interface.
