The original video file is still in Vegas and I didn't delete it, so it should appear, but it doesn't. Any suggestions?
Well it's true that you should uses lossless formats. Distribution codecs (DivX/XivD/h.264/etc.) don't have keyframes at every frame and are very hit-and-miss for editing purposes. Editing with such formats is kind of like sprinting across a minefield blindfolded. You're bound to get a few limbs blown off eventually.Dizmo wrote:I'm having a few problems with vegas 8.0 and the only help I got was "use lagarith" heh.
If you're that against using lossless and obtaining the highest quality footage you can, use the DV codec. It's a lossy codec that is made for editing. It's still larger than anything encoded for distribution, but it's also significantly smaller than anything lossless.Dizmo wrote:I'm just saying it would be nice to not always have to rely on an uncompressed lossless codec. They're nice but sometimes I just wanna add a few clips and just render it and have my product.
I don't wanna think about putting the clips onto my pc, making it a lossless codec, edit it, render it out as lossless, and putting it in vdub to encode it again.
Plus, I was using mpeg, which isn't on the big NOs list.
I don't know what topic you're referring to so I won't speak to how well your question may have been answered. However, saying 'use lossless and not a distribution codec' is more akin to having someone get his or her transmission repaired/replaced than telling him or her get a new car. A new car would equate to getting an entirely new source.Dizmo wrote:And my problem was that the answer was indeed an answer, but it didn't solve my current situation. It's like you have a car problem and someone goes up to you and says just buy a new car why dont you? Well why didn't I think of that??
I've fixed my solutions. Turns out just simply saving and restarting did the trick. xD But I'll explain anyways. It wasn't active at the time. It still would've appeared though. The clips were unaltered in any way, and removing..well I haven't tried. The short video is up here now, it's my only one. Thanks for helping. ^^LivingFlame wrote:Well, for one thing, does all the media stay offline when Vegas is actually the active window? (It looks like Vegas isn't the active window in the shot, which is why I ask.)
Have you altered anything on the clip? Obviously there aren't any effects applied, but did you change the speed or anything like that?
Also, does it still not appear if you mute the track with the white solid on it?
