Videoserver problems...

Post by OmniStrata » Mon Dec 02, 2002 12:34 am

After getting the video server mentioned in the guides (I loved using this thing...)

I tried exporting using it...
[gets to 98%] POW... [restart]

^_^

I'm not doing a "2 pass encode" just a beta release [that looks really fookin' good]

But after I installed all the amvapp stuff [holy crap, lots of nice neato new shtufs...]

The frameserver DIED!

I tried several things...

[including uninstall/reinstall of ALL my codecs and even PREMIERE...]

no go...
dived into my "regcleaner" and even edited that and I STILL can't pull it off!?

what gives?

Don't use a Premiere frame server, it's a big waste of cpu power. Export to huffYUV and do a two-pass on that. Much quicker and more versitile.

If you're talking about AVISynth for your source, you shouldn't be doing a two-pass anything in Premiere. Export in huffYUV two-pass on that.

Either way the answer is export with HuffYUV.

the thing is, I'm trying to export a "beta". NOT a final two pass...

The video is incomplete therefore I don't want to waste 4+ gigs

also I have win98 SE, it WON'T work with 2gig avis right?

:(

Win98SE works fine with files up to 4GB, after that you have problems.

The restriction on AVI filesizes is a problem with the program that deals with the AVIs, not the Operating System. There are two things at work:

Non Open-DML AVI file readers only open up to 2GB.
Fat32 only allows files up to 4GB.

Therefore, as long as you use a program like AVISynth or VDub to access your AVI file you should be fine up to 4GB.

plus a huffy file even at full res at 30 fps should only run about 500mb a minute i think. At least that is about what i've been getting from it. my 9 minute november rain vidoe was about 4.64 gigs in huffy at 24fps. So i don't think you'll hit 4GB until you got about 8 minutes.
