VFAPI - Invalid File

Hey everyone,

So I installed Adobe Premiere CS4 and the footage I want to use are in MKV format. And I found out that the AviSynth plugin that would work with versions prior to CS4, doesn't work with CS4. Now after reading this I've found out that I need to use VFAPI to make an AVI header for an Avisynth script or something like that. But when I choose "Add Job" and select my script (The script plays fine in media Player Classic) I get the message: File '[Directory to file here]' is invalid. Any idea why this would be? I followed the steps in the second post here but no luck.

Some assistance would be great

Get that plugin. It's the updated version of the avs plugin, it works both in premiere and in after effects, of course works in cs4, but also previous versions if needed. With that, no need to use vfapi.

I've installed it, and I'll try it out soon. Although, under the configuration there's an option labeled "Conform Audio (Premiere Pro)". You, or anyone else, wouldn't happen to know what that does, would you?

Mmmh... I don't recall what that option is supposed to do, but since I always use audioless files to edit, I don't really care. >_>
I suppose that checking that option wouldn't do any harm, though.

Well, I have it unchecked at the moment, but maybe I'll try it with it on sometime to see what it changes. Anyway, thanks alot for the help, so far it's working great! I had the resizing algorithm set to the highest quality, but after I found it lagging alot I switched it to the lowest and that helped. I just have to remember to put it back to maximum when exporting.

It's supposed to prevent premiere from conforming the audio on your files (it spends a few minutes doing this when you import a file that contains audio, and it creates large files on your hard drive. And it's pretty useless so everyone hates it.)
