Undeadborn wrote:This video is about the concept dawn of ashes. It's not random shit, If you see it REALLY closely you will see that in the beginning the good side are winning and finally the bad side win. It's not about the "good vs bad" thing exactly. It's about the end of an era and the beginning of another one, but you don't see more than random shit sadly.

And about "if you don't put Fx it's a simple video" yeah if I don't put FX this video would have no meaning at all because I wanted to create an atmosphere. Sorry if I don't use flash effects and the same shit that people use usually, I like raw.

And I say it's experimental because no one made before this kind of FX in 3D footage especially final fantasy, and I never saw before videos with this kind of music.
Thanks for explanation..I have a much more clear understanding of what you tried to do and tried to accomplish with this amv.. Although I think the video could have been better if it was a presented in such a way that I wouldn't need a explanation for what was going on.
-Atari- wrote: Elcalavero, you seem to have mistaken who has made this video. You see, Undeadborn, is my second account. It's where I upload all my awesome videos. So I made this video, therefore, in reality, you actually love it. Now that you know that it was me who made this, watch the video again with that in mind.
2nd Account huh? Undeadborn account = awesome videos.... Well does that mean everything in your current (-Atari-) account sucks? lol /Im joking, dont hurt me :P / I rewatched it with the mentality that you made it and I have to say it was much better, I wonder why :amv:

Every video would be simple when you remove the effects from them.

I really enjoyed this amv. You pretty much hit the atmosphere and feeling that you were trying to portray.

I do like the suggestion that Reda made with the color correction to portray the good side, but that is just nit picking.

Good job. 4.5/5

ps- You actually made me enjoy a FF video :3

I am kind of irritated by some posts in this thread indicating that videos without effects are automatically simple :/

I'll go ahead and admit that I'm biased against FFAC now cause of all the AMV's I've seen with it... But honestly, even with all the image editing... I don't see anything different from the other vids out there. In fact the only reason I got this was cause I remember hearing this song before and just wanted to see how creative you got with it. I'm disappointed, music like this craves alot more experimenting but that’s just IMO.

3/5

IN BEFORE: http://tinyurl.com/lpcpk2 <= actually half this thread is basically summed up by this.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

-Reda- wrote:Well first let me get THIS out of the way; I liked it. I liked your ideas, I liked seeing the effort you put into this from beta to beta, and I even liked your 'if you don't get it I don't care' because personally I feel that art should speak for itself, rather then be spoken for by some pretentious editor. This is easily a 4/5 from me

I do have a few qualms with it though that I'd like to discuss (you can feel free to respond to any of these as you see fit).

My first issue was with the effects: I understand that the change over to heavy effects usage at the second half of the video was used to illustrate the more evil side getting the upper hand or something close to that, and I really liked it. My question would be 'why didn't the good side see a similar/contrasting effect in the first half of the video?'. Clearly the 'good' side was winning towards the beginning of this, so it might have been nice to see a contrasting effect to the red, maybe a bluish glow or something. Without that you simply have raw editing vs. effects editing running parallel to good vs. evil; this could almost be interpreted as you suggesting that effects can be both evil and powerful, which I think is a very interesting message. At the very least thats what this video said to me.

On a more technical note, the color correction towards the end of the video could've used a tiny bit more tweaking. I would've liked seeing you crush your midtones a little bit with levels or curves to get rid of all the grey instead of black that is present in the last fight scene with Sephiroth.

Also, the slowdowns with Tifa killed the video for me in some places; the video was so well paced and fluid, the slowdowns to match the sync destroyed a lot of its momentum.

Overall though, very enjoyable to watch. The length for this type of "experimental" work was perfect. It didn't feel too drawn out and held my attention the entire time; any longer and it probably would have gotten boring, and any shorter it might not have had the same effect on the viewer. Very nice call on your part in that regard.

I'm agree in every word you said.

Pretty cool you use effects properly and the blend in some of the characters were cool. I really liked it and the story nice. 4/5

There is something called mood sync. If you want to get a certain feeling through without telling a story... just emotions no story/plot. This was actually more than well done. There is certainly something to it even though i didn't see it the first time,... Well, good mood and athmosphere |:> nice job
