Spin On,Simon A.K.A After Effects Amateur Hour

Post by machina21 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 4:56 pm

Lol@ the anime list

Anyhow, this here is my entry into the mountain of Gurren Lagann vids on the Org. Compared to my previous effort, a step up in the sense I actually read and followed the A/V Guides as best as I could. Hey,I even managed to be a finalist at AX09.

I hope y'all enjoy this, if not, I'll try and reimburse those offended with cookies. :D

Still trying to get a good banner, maybe next time

I like this

the concept felt fresh, I thought that was the strong point

my personal opinion on transition effects is the more technically advanced the transition effect, the more likely it will feel out of place. I thought the 3d box transitions could have been left out

I was floored when I saw this at AX. I pretty much grew up with this song, and never imagined I would see an AMV to it, much less a good one. There were a lot of scenes that I have never seen in a Gurren AMV before (Simon grows up? O_o), and the whole thing flowed very well. This is the first AMV to really get me interested in the anime. Very well done, surprised you didn't take a prize home with ya.

I was actually embarrassed about using some the transitions initially, especially because they were so damn basic. But I had no ideas so I caved in like a loser. Thank you for ya post!

"Big time" isn't really that old is it? Damn, where do the years go?

Im glad you enjoyed it at AX. I don't really care about winning a prize. I got to be a finalist and that was a goal I had after going to the AMV show last year. So accomplishing that was enough for me.

The song is just so catchy.. @_@
When I first saw this at AX I immediately thought 'oh gawd a gurren lagann amv X_X'
but this was just really fun to watch and groove out to. I have to agree with SJCorrectet though since some of the transitions were just a bit blah to me. It didn't take too much from the amv though ;P

Hmmm. I guess "Big Time" wasn't a big hit like "Sledgehammer" was. Interesting. :book:

That said, im going to try and keep the old school vid transitions down for my next AMV. Maybe just one...or two.
