It's the one where it's scribbles over the footage. And if you could point me in the direction of any other similar effects that would be nice to.
How do you give footage the 'old film' look?

How do you give footage the 'old film' look?
I've seen this in quite a few AMVs and would love to know how to do this. I guess there is some effect for it in AE, but I can't find it. Maybe you need to download it or something?

magic bullet suite has a plugin called misfire which does this, although it's expensive.
you can fake it with a particle system... use an emitter the width of the screen and set it up so it fires particles at random over the screen in the desired direction. with a few really fast, small particles and motion blur it looks pretty good.

Artbeats has a film effect portfolio that has overlays like that. (pretty sure that's what was used on spoil and grindhouse if that's the kind of things you're talking about) Though It costs a crapload too.

Idk exactly what you're going for but some simple like sepia or Black and white looks or even old film effects can be found in Vegas, and have been since at least vegas 5.0, if you're looking for something more though I'd say go with their suggestions.

The easy solution you're looking for is from a filter by Digieffects called Cinelook.

Don't bother asking about sources unless you have money to blow on it (which you probably don't) or are resourceful enough to scavenge around for it.
Be sure to use it extensively and with default settings (because they're always the best).
