  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

There was something about the particular way the characters were drawn which bugged me. :? As in too cutesy. The small scenes like themselves didn't grab me like scenes from... 5cm per second, for example. But I guess you can't do anything about that except use a different anime. (and it's understandable if you're a fan of this anime, and want to use it)

Anyway, I thought you did a good job in selecting scenes that were appropriate for the lyrics, as well as sort-of atmospheric shots to set the scene.

These types of AMVs aren't ones I really do myself, but there are some which create an atmosphere in a better way... maybe look at the top 10% list to find a couple...

IMO more variation in your editing style would help. I'm not sure what footage there is, but it seemed to be monotonous temporal-wise, as in the amount of time between fades/cuts - also the fact the only effects you'd seemed to use were fades and cuts. That lost its effectiveness after a while.

So, it's a good AMV with the scene selections, but you could push it further with the use of effects and a wider variety of types of edits.

Thank you for your comments and constructive criticism. I'm glad that I achieved my goal of being able to tell the story to someone who doesn't know the series, that has always been a struggle with me with editing. I was actually thinking about using effects in this video and decided not to. I'm not a big fan of effects in general.

^^

Oh yeah, I hate effects for effects sake too - but I guess it was a trend that the AMVs I'm vaguely remembering use more effects (tastefully).

But you could still vary the time between the cuts and fades, if that's all you want. You may decide not to, but it's at least something to think about. ;)
