i. Oversync is a perception of the viewer.
- -For oversync to occur, an amv must have an underlying purpose other than trying to be in-sync. [concept, story, message etc.]
-For oversync to occur, the viewer must value said purpose more than synchronization.
-Oversync occurs when synchronization interferes with the viewer's understanding of said purpose.
ii. Oversync is relative to the audience.
- -If a person cannot understand the underlying purpose because of sync, they perceive the amv as over-synced.
-If a person can understand the underlying purpose regardless of sync, they may not perceive the amv as over-synced
- -The ease at which one can understand the underlying purpose contributes to their perception of oversyncedness
- -some people like it when the screen is very busy, and they are forced to focus their attention
-generally, people don't like it when things are too fast for them to understand
