ALL EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS OR ENTRY RECEIPT HAVE BEEN SENT except for 2. Ben Chu (who knows I have them) and one entrant who didn't put an email address on their form. There were one or two that have bounced back to me as invalid email addresses so for the future please be sure to print your email address CLEARLY so I can be sure to enter it into the spreadsheet correctly.

I deeply apologize to you all for taking so long to get the emails out. Between losing my co-director and various other Expo related things (let alone real life) it took me forever to get the notifications out. I apologize. I just sent the last one out 5 minutes ago. even though I had all the entries within the submission deadlines. It just took me forever to catalog them in the spreadsheet.

the initial judging was completed this week and I am not in the process of tabulating the results. I hope to finish that up this evening and get a finalist list out first part of next week.

Again, please accept my apologies to you all for the delays in getting those emails out. We had some really fantastic entries this year. We also had a couple really scary ones. ;)

Thank you to all who entered.
As soon as the finalist list is complete I will be posting it. Expect it first part of next week.
-Michael

And we only had one honest to god Linkin Ball Z video. Though we did have More DBZ vids this year than last.

You guys do realize that most computers cant playback a Huffy avi at 100% because of the size and that this issue can vary video to video?
Actually my comp plays Huffy fine. I actually love the quality it provides. I just hate the massive file size. 3GB for a 3 minute video feels a little extreme ya know? But it sure is pretty.

It varies from video to video and even scene to scene. I can playback HD h264 MP4s very well, but if there's a scene with a lot of visual information, it will lag for that one scene. With Huffy, this makes it even harder on the computer.

EDIT: Heck I can playback lagarith files with no lag, if the video is simple/doesnt have rainbows flying everywhere.

I'm a little confused, if you can play Huffys ok, then why would any vids get DQ'd for being huffy? Was there anyone else doing the judging maybe? Because like what LittleAtari said, it does vary from video to video, and scene to scene, especially if there's a lot going on.

x2
Oddly enough, I can play huffy's fine most of the time, but if I have an h264 video with tons of flash's everywhere...it lags like a motherfuck

I wonder if that bounced email was mine. :(

I'm a bit curious too about this, even my godly (semi lol) can't play huffys at full speed, well not mines.

Huffy files are really hard on any computer to play. In general, regardless of codec, like LA said, it does vary scene to scene and video to video. If there is a lot of action going on, it will lag, especially if it is a huffy.

It's ridiculous that the largest anime convention in the US doesn't seem to know this.

I'm having to agree with LA... Most computers can handle HuffyUV pretty well, unless there's a bunch of noise or effects. Granted, I can play a HuffyUV with no lag (even with a lot of effects), but an h264 codec will once and a while lag me more than a video with a HuffyUV codec. Also, I think it's pretty dumb, like Hagaren said, that you would be DQ'ing people for submitting HuffyUV when you can play it. A lot of people edit with Macs, and Lagarith isn't an accepted codec for Macs... You can only use HuffyUV if you want lossless editing.

There were no DQs for huffy. Who told you there was?
I just said I prefer they not be submitted in that format if possible for size reasons. I never said a vid would be DQ'd for it. in point of fact off the top of my head two of the current front runners in my tallying of judges ballots were submitted in huffy.
