Those of you who use dual monitors...
Do you find it useful? I've gotten together some pocket change, and it's one of several things I've been meaning to look into for a while now. Was it worth the money? Or does it now seem superfluous most of the time? Do you use it for things other than editing?

I find it really useful, not only for editing but for everyday stuff.
Like having an active conversation on one of them and browsing the webs or watching a movie/video/whatever.
And from an editing perspective, in my opinion, it's great. By using dual monitors my work space has increased drastically and the workflow has improved a lot.
In the beginning it may feel a bit weird, it did for me, but once gotten used to it I now have problems feeling comfortable using on one screen.

When I go to LANs I only bring one monitor. I feel like I'm missing an arm.

Dual monitors have helped me so much with studying and typing research papers and reports.
I actually don't like using dual monitors for editing, unless one monitor is for editing and the other is for internet browsing/chatting when I get bored inbetween cuts. I actually don't like the extra space to edit, it just feels weird to me.

Re: Those of you who use dual monitors...
I used to use dual monitors but the physical gap between the screens and the desk real estate required eventually got me to instead invest in single, extra-large screens.
For a while I was using my 40" HDTV as a monitor but have recently gone back to using the Dell 24" widescreen a bought a few years ago so the TV could instead be used in my living room. I suppose dual screens could be useful even in my case for holding my IM windows, but I have a laptop set up on my desk that can handle that. I find this setup particularly useful as I can still browse the internet and chat online using my laptop while playing games in fullscreen mode on my desktop.
I don't think I will ever go back to a dual screen setup.

Re: Those of you who use dual monitors...
I'm pretty much in the same situation of Corran (ok, I don't have a 40" HDTV and I was doing dual monitor with the laptop though >_>), although I wouldn't mind buying a second 24" to dual screen when I'll be able to afford that.
Dual monitors are a pretty cool thing all round, not only editing wise, but as the screen resolution increases, I find dual monitors to be less needed, while still useful.
So basically, when I was on the 1280x800 screen of the laptop, having the extra 1680x1050 was awsmcore. Now that I have a 1920x1200 screen on the desktop, I don't feel the need to buy a second screen to hook up, honestly, at least not nearly as much as before.
But yeah, if you can afford it, a second monitor isn't bad at all.

I have my main machine running to the 42" HDTV, and my macbook with an extra apple cinema display. However, I really need to get around to adding either a new card to or buying a new adaptor for my main machine so I can use the HDTV and the apple cinema display (20") at the same time. Timeline on HDTV, video window on cinema display. Oh. Yeah. Baby.
