Re: How do I remove my own videos?
As much as I'm against people removing their videos, it only seems fair to let people remove their video from local, if not delete the catalog entry altogether.

Reminds me of Pas' preview thing that he whips out at me whenever I screw up on BB codes.Kariudo wrote:eh, I had a few minutes to killVivaldi wrote:As much as I'm against people removing their videos, it only seems fair to let people remove their video from local, if not delete the catalog entry altogether.

Re: How do I remove my own videos?
Even if it was allowed, I'd still really hate it. Having seen people remove their own videos on other sites because they are 'embarrassed' by them or something, it's just annoying and it is counter-productive. Even if the goal of this site was not to host every AMV ever, allowing people to remove videos would hurt this site, as you would get people, who when they decide to relocate themselves to another site, would delete all their videos or in one case I've seen here, someone abused the 'remaster' system and got one of their local downloads taken down because they didn't want people uploading their video to the Tube or other places. Get over it. People are not going to judge your editing skill on your first AMVs made. We all have our old videos up. It's not a big deal. As for abusing the remaster system, if people did that every time their video got popular, it would just be ridiculous. Be happy that your video is popular.Kariudo wrote:eh, I had a few minutes to killVivaldi wrote:As much as I'm against people removing their videos, it only seems fair to let people remove their video from local, if not delete the catalog entry altogether.

I'm well aware that's what the agreement states, I'm saying that's an unfair rule to have in there in the first place.Kariudo wrote:eh, I had a few minutes to killVivaldi wrote:As much as I'm against people removing their videos, it only seems fair to let people remove their video from local, if not delete the catalog entry altogether.

Ironically going against my own beliefs, as I too, consider deleting older videos simply because you no longer like them to be very bad form. But sometimes personal opinion and logical opinion oppose each other.

Re: How do I remove my own videos?
The purpose of the site is to 'Catalog every amv ever made' not provide downloadable copies of every amv made. If the creators themselves don't want to have their work downloadable anymore this should be their choice and not the orgs. Giving up the control of our creations is an unfortunate rule the org places upon us. Catalogs should stay, as that is the purpose of the site, but there is no reason creators shouldn't be able to remove download links if they so choose. The org is a site that caters to the creators, yet they refuse the most basic things such as control over our creations. Obviously this is the internet, so once something is released it's always out there somewhere. But here on a site designed by editors for editors we should have the control. Personally I would choose to keep all my videos downloadable, as it shows my progression. If other editors don't feel the same way it should be up to them if I can download a copy of their creation or not.

I'm not arguing the rule doesn't exist, I'm saying it shouldn't exist, try reading the post next time before using the same argument for everything that comes up.
