Fresh Meat :)
Hi, I'm a newbie here and I thought I would introduce myself. I knew that anime music videos existed, but before coming here I didn't know how popular they were. The other day I came up with the idea to make one of my own, so I decided to make a video for "Comfort Eagle" by Cake set to clips from Serial Experiments: Lain. I finished yesterday morning and was wondering what to do with it, when my friend told me about this site. I'll put the video on my server later today and sumbit it to this site. I was looking around, and realized that there was already a S.E. Lain video set to "Comfort Eagle" by someone else, and it was pretty good. I feel kind of stupid now, but the that video and the one I made are pretty different (except in a few places that we both used the same clip at the same part!)

Well, in other words, don't feel that just because someone already used the same anime and music combination that you can't use it as well. If that were true, there'd only be about 12 Linkinball Z video
You'll have to ask yourself who is more important when you're making AMVs: Your audience or yourself. If you make them for an audience, then you'll be somewhat trapped, because it will cut some of your creativity. You'll want to make something that you know the people will like, and that can be more work, because you have to find out what the people want. On the other hand, if you're making AMVs for yourself, then it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks. That's how I view it. I have these ideas that I'm compelled to make reality, and I get great pleasure from being able to view the finished product. Of course, I get greater pleasure when other people watch it, and even more when people like it. But I will never make a video that I don't want to do, just for the sake of pleasing someone.
You made that Lain - Cake - Comfort Eagle video without knowning that someone had made one using the same anime and music. That right there shows that you have the desire to make real your visions. Don't let the fact that someone had a similar vision stop you from making the AMV and sharing it with the world. Do you have this video hosted? I haven't seen Lain yet, but i saw the other AMV using it and Comfort Eagle. I'm interested in seeing yours, not to compare, but to get a different view point. Since I haven't seen Lain (Althought I have a basic idea of the story) I'm intrigued to see new scenes and a new idea about the anime.
One last statement: As you may or may not know, there are well over a thousand videos recorded at this site (Meaning there are more) that use Dragonball Z and a Linkin Park song. Now, I'm not saying I'm going to go out and watch everyone, but I respect that each individual had a concept that they wanted to create, and I'd bet any amount of money that, while many of the video may have the same theme (such as a Vegita tribute) none of the videos are exactly the same. It's highly improbable that two people could create the same thing. These people are making the videos for themselves. Either that, or for a smaller DBMV community, because as many here can tell you, almost no one intentionally finds out DBZ-Linkin Park AMVs. In other words, they have no audience
But I digress.../Al Sharpton
Get that video hosted and share it with people! I know I'm interested in seeing it, as is leathel. He has spoken
I wish you much luck, and welcome you to The Org. Enjoy your stay

I agree, unless you're going to do something really, really horrendous, like another LP/DBZ vid.leathelanime wrote:Dude...FUCK WHAT SOMEONE ELSE MAKES!

Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words... I just finished uploading it to my server and submitting it on here.
It's in .avi format and almost 60 megs though so you'll probably have to wait for it to download before you can watch it
