Someone wants another competition on the .org

Post by Animated » Wed Apr 22, 2009 4:24 pm

I got bored and i came up with this stupid idea.

Why don't we make ANOTHER competition, except from the VCAs? I was thinking of a special competition, starting at summertime maybe, where every country will fight against a randomly chosen another country.

What i really mean:

5 different editors of the org representing the country they live in.
Another 5 editors of another country.
1 month deadline(or less of course, maybe YES, less time) - 2 min. amv(or maybe less) - Collaboration style.

At the same period of time, we will have 1vs1 country-wars. Then the winners (which will be chosen after voting) will go on to the semifinals, challenging the winners of an another match the next month. ISN'T THAT FABULOUS? |:>

I just couldn't get of my mind a USA vs Russia war... think about it THE ALTERNATIVE WAY. It's about making your country PROUD. It's about REVENGE!

Or you can just lock/move/burn this topic, i was having fun writing all this stuff anywayz.

Anyone else that likes this idea? I used to give cookies to those that agreed with everything i was saying, but all i have now is hatred.

Boo.

Russia would win and you know it.

Besides, who would judge something like that? It couldn't be public voting, and anybody worth having as a judge would have a country represented.

And it's not like there's not already enough comps in summer for people to make amvs for.

I like the idea. I've been in favour of something a bit similar to this for a while. Last I offered it to the Russians though, they seemed pretty negative. I'm all in favour however and would offer any help I can to this.

I think it'd be fun to have an Olympics-style event that a different site (amv community) hosts each time.

AMV OLYMPICS! :ying:

Now this is one Olympic event that I'd follow |:>

But I wouldnt have it be just one round. It should have multiple round spanning across genre. Also I like the idea of giving people adequate time to edit and collaborate. I'm used to most competitions being IC style. This could be a lot of fun.

So, like the IC tourney that's been going on every other year since 2003 and is probably due to start up soon again and which featured a country-of-origin motif last time as well?

Yes, but that's just a motif. It didn't really affect the organization of the IC in any way, because in the end it's basically a 1 vs 1 competition regardless.

If somebody else wants to do it, cool on them, but I will say that this years IC Tournament will be run as it has been. Standard 1vs1, no bias towards country of origin (though I'm fine with putting the country flag next to the names again).

Which is totally fine. The IC always worked really well and there's no reason to change it. I think we're all talking about a different kind of contest altogether.

It seems that Animated is suggesting that people work in teams so that each video is a collaboration and it wouldnt be an IC, rather people would get more time to edit. This seems really different from the traditional IC competitions that we people tend to host.
