does rendering fail immediately or part way through the process?

if partway through, can you render small chunks, e.g. 1m at a time?

if render fails completely, create a new project and let us know if you can render from that.

so maybe it's a memory issue, or a problem with your project

1st thing i would try is to render just the part that fails - so like 40-60% on your timeline

if that still fails, it's a problem with that part of the project, try narrowing down the area that you render until you isolate the clip that's causing the problem.

see if disabling fx on that clip helps.

if not, just disable the clip for now, and render everything out, then import your render into a new project and patch the missing clip on top.

OR if it renders 40-60% with no problems, render out the whole project in chunks as i described above. for example, perhaps you can render 0-1m, 1m-2m, 2m-3m, etc.
then import these segments into a new project, and line them up on a fresh timeline. Disable audio on the clips and import your song again, then just make sure everything syncs up properly and try the complete render again - it'll probably work from a fresh project.

If this doesn't work, i'd run memtest to make sure your ram's ok. if that checks out, it's either vegas voodoo (you might want to try a vegas tech forum), or a problem with how your pc is set up (codecs, blah, blah).

uh, actually it just occurred to me that maybe you're trying to save to a fat16 drive that doesn't support files over 4gb. maybe worth checking if you're using an external or non-system drive |:>
