Re: K-ON!
I find it funny that people seem to have high expectations from KyoAni. This reaction is par for the course now it seems. In fact, if no one said "This is shaping up to be the most overrated show of the season!" after the airing of a new KyoAni show, I'd be disappointed. I seem to remember the same sentiment when Lucky Star aired and even after Haruhi Suzumiya premiered.xexyzl wrote:This is shaping up to be the most overrated show of the season!
Really, I'm going to have to agree with this guy. I honestly expected better from KyoAni.
And you might think it odd, but I kind of agree with that review. But I watch what I like regardless of what these reviewers say. Plus, it's only the first episode so it's kinda early to really make any kind of judgment one way or another. Heck, even the naysayers would agree that Lucky Star got better as it went along.

That's it, that's the feeling I was trying to pin down, I feel like I've been through the motions so much it feels almost like I'm rewatching the series.review wrote:and the characters are written with these really obvious broad strokes where you know exactly how they're going to react to every situation in every episode until the last few when they all change just enough to where it counts as ‘character development’.
That said, I'll be watching it anyway because music based anime are rare, and otherwise I won't have any idea what the heck /a/'s talking about for the next 3 months.

But it likely meets the Chocolate bar test.
Ok, we all like chocolate bars correct? But even when they change them, they've not really changed any thing meaningful right? But you still go on liking them, because, well, they're chocolate bars, what's to hate?
That's how I describe most of the anime I like.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
