Re: Streaming from animemusicvideos.org
I actually wanted to add to something. Rewatching Corran's encode of Sayde's video, the quality does seem to be better in other places than on some parts on the tube upload and vice versa. I'd need multiple screen shots of different scenes. The one I took isnt fair and is perhaps the only part where it's really bad like that.

And you are right, it was a typo. I forgot that there were three types of encodes on youtube now.
Edit: For anyone looking at these videos, I should note that fluid 3D animation does not compress as easily as 2D animation. The settings we are using will definitely produce noticable artifacts in this case. The second video was also bad "demo" since the original file is over-filtered to begin with... I only included it as a comparison to the video linked on Youtube...
Quality of the streams will depend on the amount of action in the video, the animation style of the show, and how well you have cleaned and compressed your local file.
For example, here is one of the videos I made back in 2003...
Filesize: 14.41MB
Examples removed
And here is a high motion 2D video of Decoy's...
Filesize: 14.68MB
Examples removed
I am satisfied with what we have considering it is only a preview.

Re: Streaming from animemusicvideos.org
Corran, is there any reason why I can't see any of the videos in this thread?
tried updating the shockwave flash plugin for firefox
already using the most recent flash player (10.0.22.87)
cookies enabled
java/script enabled
Firefox 3.0.8
WinXP Pro sp3
...nvm, figured it out. I was blocking 3rd party cookies. Unblocked them and now the videos play.
Still posting this because it might help.

Ah yeah that would do it. The way this is embedded the cookies will be for RDS, not the org.Kariudo wrote:...nvm, figured it out. I was blocking 3rd party cookies. Unblocked them and now the videos play.

I'm glad I caught it right after I posted or that would've been embarrassing XD.Corran wrote:LittleAtari wrote:I actually wanted to add to something. That does look pretty sexyEdit: For anyone looking at these videos, I should note that fluid 3D animation does not compress as easily as 2D animation. The embedding system pays off from the very beginning, it seems.
For the more practical side of the report - I was very pleased to see this high quality getting no problems with buffering, even when sitting on 64kB/s capped download - definitely good streaming, however it's done :<

Re: Streaming from animemusicvideos.org
I have a question about how this effects comments on a video...
are we going to have a comment system similar to that of the tube/every other streaming site? where public comments can show up under the streaming version of the video?...
or will people be able to watch the streaming and leave full opinions on the video entry, and/or anon qcs? or will they have to still download the video in order to do that?
(I thought about this the other day and then forgot what my question was until now O.o)

Re: Streaming from animemusicvideos.org
There aren't any public comments currently.
There are anonymous quick comments, and I believe you can leave an opinion.
