A question about studios...
Please don't think I'm being a bitch when I ask this question... this is just a plain dumb newbie question that has been rolling around my head for years.
What is the purpose of having or being a part of a studio production co. when it comes to amv's?
Is it mainly to distinguish between each co's works when at a convention or involved in a big time contest?
I have a couple other questions related to this but I'll stop for now in case they cause some unnecessary flaming :O
I couldn't find any explanations in a help guide here... maybe it would be something good to explain in a guide for the noobs who come along thinking "OMFG I liek so wanna be a part of ur productions".

Its a showbiz name. If you have a good name, thats half the battle. Awesome name = people take interest = your foot is in the door.
Michael Diamond, Adam Yauch, and Adam Horovitz are a collection of New York jews and a buddhist, but as THE BEASTIE BOYS, they took rap by storm and sold millions of units.

Sometimes, also, people with similar editing styles get together to form a production group. It's probably nice to be able to edit with others who see things the way you do, or affiliate yourself with a group of like-minded people.
But, yeah, Beowulf is right, having a name that sticks out helps people notice your videos.
And don't worry about having a newbish question. I once had to ask how to split video clips on the timeline...XD

Re: A question about studios...
It's pretty much been answered, a studio can be just a cool name to put on your videos, but it can also be a way for people to identify you. I.E If somebody sees a good video by somebody in a studio, and they see somebody else release work under that same studio name, it may make them more likely to download. In some cases it's just a group of friends working under the same studio name because they get along and have some similar views on editing.

.. studio names, nick names,
icons -- you could just
call the Opening area of your AMV "FRED"
a name is the "set of limits" that you agree to live within on AMV's.
.. nothing more, nothing less

Re: A question about studios...
Ah, okay I get it
Thanks, everyone, for clearing all that up. It even answers the questions I didn't ask.
But it makes me wonder, if this is the case, that anyone can just come up with their own production name just cause it looks cool even though their videos sucks. lol
Hey don't look at me, but I'm sure it's been done before.
Actually, I've been trying to talk my hubby into joining the site and maybe being production partners but he won't do it any time soon
so I'm alone.
