this really depends on how well I like the amv I did. If I like it I keep the song, if not I cut it :x. I can listen/ watch the same thing a billion times over if I like it :P too much sesame street as a kid- as a kid??- has made my eyes addicted to the glow of the electronic screen -_- so NOT watching it gives me those migranes, not vica versa like 'normal' ppl ;p

I'm sort of trying to decide whether I should make this amv to this song I like though... cuz like you said... I could never forgive myself for ruining it if I did :/. But by the amvs I've seen that are made to it already (Blind Melon's No Rain) it's pretty much 'ruined' anyway lol... I can't lose!!

it usually saves the songs for me, there's some AMVs to artists and songs by me that I would now never ever listen to again except for when I put on that AMV.

when you eventually get sick of a song you've heard for the 100th time it just means that you have a working brain instead of being an obsessive Linkin Park/Tokio Hotel fanboy.

The opposite could be said however of videos that others made. Once I get those songs from videos that I liked, I can't seem to get enough of them.

For me, editing to a song doesn't make me more likely to skip it when the mp3 comes up normally. However I do have a hard time listening to the song without the video also being present. This tends to go for most AMVs I really like, I just can't stand to just listen to the song, I want to see the video too! I don't usually skip the song, but often I tend to not put the song in my mp3 player or on my mp3 disks or mix cds because I really don't want to listen to it.

Though as time goes on I start to listen to the song again, and it gives me a sense of nostalgia for the time spent working on the video.

So... yes and no?

It's hit-and-miss here. Many times I do grow sick of hearing the song and I have to wait a few months before I can listen to it again, but there have been a couple times that I didn't grow sick of it.

I generally like to avoid editing with songs I have deep personal attachments to, but there have been a couple times I did, and my pre-existing love for them I think is what made the usual 'sick of it' thing not occur. I can get tired of them, but the 'aargh' reaction doesn't come into it.

With other people's AMVs, I don't usually see the video if I went out and got the song afterward. The only time that happens is if the video itself was really iconic (case in point: I cannot listen to "Mambo" by Helena Paparizou without often seeing excerpts of ScorpionP's video playing back in my head, but it's not constantly there, nor is it there every single time I hear the song). Lots of the songs used in AMV Hell I don't see accompanying video for unless, like the previous example, it REALLY stood out.

this is a good reason to edit our songs... than when anybody else listens to it and say for SOME reason they like your video and have watched it a million times... well any time they listen to the song they'll just get mad at the song for getting it wrong lol. For instance I totally remixed this song and when I hear it now I hardly recognize it :/. I like my mix MUCH better.

Really good question, there are alot of factors but it mostly depends on how much you like the song. If you do different genres in your amvs you will probabaly listen to that one song that is in your favorite genre more than your lesser liked ones. For example my favorite genre is r&b and I find myself listening to r&b songs that I've edited to more than the instrumental, hiphop, rap, oldie, and gospel ones I've used. But it also depends on your most favorite song that you've used in that genre, if a certain song gave you hell more than it did you enjoying creating it before you've finished it you most definitely won't be listening to it for at least half a year. It's a risk using songs you like in amvs because as much as you think about how the amv is going to go in your head with a certain song, you don't know how much hard work it's going to take until you actually edit.
