My last dream involved running from zombies and stuff at one of my previous addresses with some of my old RL friends... I think a l4d binge that night had something to do with it. Dunno how that could help with amv's.

I've had dreams that I've used for my writing classes at Uni, creative writing seminars. I doubt I could have a dream that would effect my editing directly. It would be hard to correlate FX ideas to a dream unless I somehow had a dream about an anime I had watched the night before or something... IDK...

It may be our most creative time but its not all that controlling if any, other then self-conscious decisions in the dream itself...
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

I had a dream in which I had a great idea for an AMV, and started editing it, and it was going really well. I woke up pretty excited to start the project for real, but as soon as I was properly awake I realised that the footage I was editing with didn't exist. It was a real series (GitS-SAC I think), but the episodes I was using were a figment of my dream. :(

A quote from Neil Gaiman* about where he gets his ideas:
In my case, they also want to know if I get them from my dreams. (Answer: no. Dream logic isn't story logic. Transcribe a dream, and you'll see. Or better yet, tell someone an important dream - 'Well, I was in this house that was also my old school, and there was this nurse and she was really an old witch and then she went away but there was a leaf and I couldn't look at it and I knew if I touched it then something dreadful would happen...' - and watch their eyes glaze over.
In the same vein, dream logic isn't the same as video presentation logic. Who dreams in crossfades, or rotoscoping, or deinterlacing?

*If ya don't know Gaiman wrote a very popular comic called Sandman which was about the lord of dreams and largely took place in 'the dreaming', so that's why people wonder if he gets his ideas from his dreams.
