Total newb tackles Utena

Post by puppet_etienne » Fri Jan 23, 2009 2:45 am

I've finally discovered how to move through the whole AMV process on my mac and have embarked on my Utena dream project. However! I've never used avisynth before. I've been following the guide (which magically and extremely luckily was using the EXACT SAME DVD) which has been extremely educational so far. Everything was looking pretty good, but as I was scrubbing through frames I came across this offensive blotch!
Image
What exactly would it be categorized at and what would be recommended to fix it? This is my current script:

mpeg2source("Y:\Movies\Rips\Utena\Black Rose 1\Black Rose Blooms\blackroseblooms.d2v")
Telecide(order=1,post=2,blend=false,vthresh=30,back=1)
Decimate(cycle=5,mode=3,quality=3)
deen("a3d",3)
temporalcleaner()
mftoon()
ColorYUV(gain_u=15)
tweak(sat=1.2)
Crop(10,14,-10,-10)
LanczosResize(640,464)

Thank you in advance!

Okay, I gotta admit I don't see it. Where is this blotch?

Have you made sure the program you're viewing it in (I'm assuming VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod; I have no clue if Avidemux has such restrictions) is set to 24bit display depth? Go to Options->Preferences and if the Output color depth value is set to 16bit, change it to 24bit and see if the issue disappears. 'cause I'm not seeing a blotch either.

Oh ho. I am an EXPERT at this. I must concur, I see no blotch. That actually looks pretty good, assuming you are using the media sculptors discs.

Besides, Juri isn't a horrible blotch... Shiori is! ^_~

And I assume that Utena + Mac + Avisynth can only mean you are following my guide.

My own name for those companies basrardized works.

CPM and Software Sculptors combined forces to produce the sucktastic Utena discs. Thus Media Sculptors.

I figured that was probably it, I've just never heard anyone use that portmanteau name before.

/me still wonders just *why* CPM has the Software Sculptors and U.S. Manga Corps brands as sub-brands instead of taking responsibility for everything themselves.
