Music Depreciation

Post by Infinity Squared » Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:38 pm

It's a question that is probably often asked, but does creating an AMV make you less keen on listening to that song again? To be more specific, will you be more likely to press the skip button in your MP3 player when a song that you've done a video to comes up?

I know there are a few songs which I really want to make a video to but due to life, sources or whatever reason, I haven't been able to implement yet. These songs I almost never skip when they come up in my playlist.

Once I've actually gone and done a video to that song however, there's a very strong likelihood that somehow just listening to it on its own is no longer so entertaining. Now, I don't know if I just ended up getting sick of it by the umpteenth time that I played the chorus trying to see if the scenes were on sync or if everytime I hear the song, it just doesn't seem right to listen to it without the accompanying video anymore. Anyway, whatever the case, there's only a couple of songs from videos that I made which has escaped this fate.

Sometimes I can't listen to it ever again, sometimes I listen to it even more. I suppose it depends.

When I come across a song I have edited too, I skip over but when I need to kill sometime or block out somethings. I don't usually listen to them anymore because I was sick of it back when I was replaying the video a couple of thousand times to make sure parts were okay. The songs I want to edit to, I playback and stream up ideas and start synching to the beats I would hit by nodding with my head. Lol, call me wierd but thats what I do :|

Heh... syncing to the beats... I'd do that when I'm driving... when the next bass line hits, I time to use my indicator to merge to the next lane.

It's so bad for me I'm purposefully not doing amvs to a few songs I love (And would love to do an amv to) 'cause I know I'd never be able to listen to it again

 Isn't that dangerous, but that's cool, I guess trying to synch beats is a common thing. Coo'

Yea - it happens here. Usually on the ones i've tossed a lot of time at. My friends know it and it leads to rather interesting exchanges of obscenities.

Immediately after a video, absolutely. I usually feel I never want to hear the damn thing again.

A few weeks later? Good to go.

I usually don't want to hear a song I've used for an AMV for awhile, but after time has gone by I usually start listening to it again.
