Not a bad song at all. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I can still listen to it without wanting to cringe. Basically, it makes me want to check out the rest of the album.

If you don't know the song, either don't post or give it a listen before stating your opinion.

I remember this song from the video, if i'm correct this was the 2nd single off there 3rd studio album, Now that listening to it right now, its one of the Slipknot songs that I can listen to, its not one of those songs that give you a headache IMO.

I usually categorize Iron Maiden as dad rock, along with Led Zep and Pink Floyd. Song is ok though, mostly due to the vocals.

I never heard of Recoil until I stumbled across a music video called Jezebel. I thought that nice beat gave me a mello feeling to it. I'm not familiar with the artist nor with the the song ya listened to, but I sure would like to check out more.

Whoops! Almost forgot why I'm posting on this thead.
I just found the song and heard it a few minutes ago. It's got that classic blues tone it. I don't listen to that kind of music as much. Usually, I'm into the rock/rap and all that hype, but sometime a smooth sailing song helps me feel relaxed. I thought "5000 years" was alright. It's something I can listen to from time to time especially when I "got the blues." It's good to listen to some classical music especially when you're not feeling that 'jump-starting" mood. Definitely, I'll check out more songs by Recoil.

Re: What do you think of...
I didn't really care for that one. The piano sections were interesting, but the heavy sections just didn't go anywhere, they just spun in place. But that's my major complaint with most electronica, that there's no progression through a piece, just a number of short loops before moving on to the next set of loops.

Journey is pretty much the anchor in any karaoke fest. If you won't sing Journey, you shouldn't be allowed to set foot in a karaoke bar.
Not to add to the fetishization of the inherent and delineated meanings of music, but I do consider myself a Steven Wilson fanboi. I also have to argue that "Funeral Portrait" is better than both "Bleak" and "The Drapery Falls."
I am also not entirely delinquent, so I am currently listening to: Muse - Origin of Symmetry - "Megalomania"
