I use ventrillo myself. Would be cool to have an org server for it. :P
I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason.
I'm just that kind of person. - Sousuke Sagara

lolwut?

I don't press a single button to talk. I turn that off and set the sensitivity and then whenever I talk above a certain volume, it transmits. Easy.
I was joking about how the few times I used Vent, I bound the talk button to left Ctrl, which sits right next to the windows key.

That is completely and totally Vent's fault, and not mine for being shortsighted.

Yes, but some people get pissy when there are too many people on skype. A large group of random idiots all talking at once (and you KNOW there would be moronic spamming) is just a recipe for an amazing headache.

Even with separate multiple channels, policing them for random screaming retards would be an annoying task for any and all mods put to work on them.

In my opinion, it's a nice idea but a waste of time.

And fuck ya'll, I love my skype :|

I'm fairly certain the owner (Eric/Corran) wouldn't mind me saying, but we do have an always on Vent Server that he hosts. It currently can only hold 8 people, but well...KING PWOLF, Suberunker, Castor, some gaming friends and I have been using daily for nearly a year now.

If you'd like the address, I can share it with you via other means.

As you noted, you just have separate channels for that. For example, we currently have a DOTA, TF2 and L4D channel on the server.

As for spamming idiots, that wouldn't be a problem b/c the server is private and protected with a password. Only like...10 - 20 people know the address/pw. More importantly, Eric and I are admins on the vent server and I can ban people when needed (hasn't happened yet) and also create user accounts who get privileges (i.e. if it's already full, it kicks out a non-essential, etc.).

In short, Vent >>> Skype for gaming stuff. So many more options, channels and power :P.

I forgot to mention that channels basically eliminates the unnecessary times when people who *aren't* gaming don't wanna stay in the channel or start voice spamming and interrupting the game. I have friends that camp their vent servers in the AFK channel and if they wanna join a game or chat with folks, they move down. If not, they go back to another channel or AFK. There's no need for anyone to 'start the skype call' so to speak. Same goes if some people wanna L4D and some wanna TF2. They go to their respective channels.

Given my friend's server can hold > 50 people and Eric didn't think we'd need more, but we'll see.
