So the other day I had this really odd idea for an AMV concept. It seemed great, since it used a sound bite most people would be familiar with yet has never been used here before. The problem is that I arrived at the concept because of one thing: hats. One character in the show wore a special sort of hat, the person from the sound byte wore that kind of hat. So that character from the anime would in fact become the person wearing the hat, meaning the rest of the cast would have to be changed as well. In other words, the concept and the anime only have that hat in common, and pretty much nothing else, so my question is this: Is it a bad idea to base an entire concept around something so obscure?
(I'd say what my idea was, but I'm not aware of any rule stating "The person who had the idea gets to do it first" otherwise I'd give more detail)
Entire concept based around hat similarities a stretch?

Re: Entire concept based around hat similarities a stretch?
After being assured that as long as I claim the idea that people aren't likely to take it (and my apologies for even considering otherwise), I'll elaborate on what I'm planning:
So Rena Ryuguu from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni wears a beret.
Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters wears a beret.
So my idea is to parody one of the openings for the Mythbusters show through a lot of masking and editing. (For one thing, Rena will need a walrus moustache at some point, and I don't think there are any scenes that by themselves can be used for "Did somebody order some exploding pants?")
Once again, is this going too far with something incredibly vague?
