I agree with Milo about his deep and isightful discriptions about the charcters, but I also agree with Mr. Oni, his generalizations are about as acurate as a description as you can get. My complaint with the series is despite how deep the characters were, they never got past what they were in the begining, they were as flawed in ep 1 as they were by the end of the series the only difference is that by the end of the series you, unfortunatly have the unpriviledge of knowing why they are as screwed up as they are.

2) Asuka is attractive and she certainly has bitchy qualities. However, Asuka has skill, talent and a brain... she put herself on the line more than once. She certainly suffers from pride and inner problems, but all in all, Asuka is almost the same as Shinji... except that she hides her problems with an extroverted defense mechanism instead of withdrawing as Shinji does. Simply reducing Asuka to a simplistic 2-D character as you have done shows how much you are missing... but given your thug-like mentality that you frequently show on this board, your views are not suprising at all. Once again, I could go on with this topic, but time is pressing.

It's very simple whatever is going on inside her is not important she treats people like shit and I do not find that attractive must be my thuglike mentality. Belldandy is more my type for example.

3) Misato's death was tragic, but we know from the TV series that her living essence was absorbed into the "mass-mind". In the movie, we actually see Misato killed, but just before the explosion, we see one of the many Reis... this scene makes it clear that though Misato's essence was collected before the explosion. It would have had to have been collected if Shinji is able to explore her memories during the end of the TV series. However, everyone is disembodied during Third Impact with the exception of Shinji. This would take a lot of time to discuss, but I'm seconds from having to leave.
The whole disembodied crap was stupid as was the third impact. She was hot poa and a nice girl now shes a puddle of primordial ooze?

4) I think Hikari and Toji were great characters, but they certainly weren't the most interesting. I think a lot of effort went into the development of the background characters, but they ARE background characters and for the story to have the correct pacing, you can't spend too much time on them. The show gave them a lot of background for the time we had them.
They should have been main character types because they were alot more interesting than the ones we were given.

5) The ending of the movie "End of Evangelion" was not very good. I have very mixed feelings about the movie... but the ending of the TV series was amazing and powerful and important.
No it was shinji whining two full epsisodes worth and it sucked. I haven't rewatched it so I cannot remember every single detail but it sucked. It was more more boring than 2001!!! And how the hell is it important. It tells future generations how to ruin an anime?

I am disturbed to read that you think Shinji would be more admirable if he had killed Asuka... however... given other posts you have written (including comments on how you wish you could shoot me dead), it is consistant with your thug-like mentality.

Given what I have read from you ever since I came to a-m-v.org, I can easily tell that Evangelion is WAY WAY over your head and I think you would just do everyone a favor by steering clear of Evangelion discussions

Hey I thought you were in a hurry you wrote a freakin book!!!! Congratulations you can blather more than anybody I know. You know what has always frustrated me about this series Is that I loved it till the very end. My cousin actually cried because the ending was so bad. I at least had some advance warning. Sometimes people just do stupid things Eva is one of Annos stupid things.

well... they are in 6th grade... and it is 13 years after they were born... OKOK not every char. but the MAIN characters (and no I don't count Misato and the rest of NERVE etc. only the pilots). Nyway THESE characters DO NOT reach profound realizations in the begining, only Misato and the others do. In the pilots case it was the same thing from the begining till Xunit 04 (<-- see av ;-p), they were just doing as told. Only in the end did they show some self-awareness (for lack of a better word) and made decisions for themselves, showing maturity.

In fact you can argue that while Shinji was better off in the end (supposedly... though a world without girls -_-...) Rei sure wasn't (WTH did she become? a supreme deity through her 'living' sacrifice?) and, whether or not Asuka was alive (she'd be better off dead) she DEFFINITELY was the worse off. you thought she was bitchy and pnuemonic before. So Shinji matured, Asuka DETOURED (isn't as smart and mature as she thought??) and Rei just... de-evolved back into pimordial goo o.0.

... it would be cool to see PenPen piloting Unit 05 (or 06 cuz I think 05 is the Eva series...) since he may have been born in the same year -_-

and Sensuke is SO much more cool than Toji. But Oni got Hikari right ;-p

don't be mistaken, Shinji is a worm (or caterpillar if you'd rather, that turns into a butterfly, or moth ;-p) and all he will do is spawn off more worms... even if he becomes the biggest baddest moth, all he will do is worms. </philisophical debate>
