The way I look at, if you have no desire to do something you feel should be a pleasurable hobby, then why force yourself to do it? Is it really such a great loss?

Life's too short to spend a lot of time fussing over or pining for what *should* make you happy...
That's another thing though, whenever I do edit, I enjoy it still.
What I'm trying to find out, to be more specific, is what I should edit for?
Or what I could do to actually finish an amv, seeing as how I still enjoy it, yet can't come around finishing much of anything.

However, you're right in the moving on with what makes me happy
I've had a gf for close to 3months, which is when this lack in motivation started.
I could possibly use her as motivation, but nothing seems to live up to her or how I feel about her, or what not.
I guess I'm also in the need of making editing more enjoyable.

All these suggestions are good, other than the eating curved fruit one =/
I don't hate bananas, there just not for me :?
Someone also pointed something out that stuck out for me

Sure, I'm only 15, but what if that part of me that loved it when I close to 13, is dying?

As for editor's block, I believe there really IS one.
This goes for anything that has or involves a creative outlet.
Directors, authors, editors, or even artists (whose solution is often weed) get it
Saying there isn't one, is like saying there isn't (going into a religious perspective now) a Devil.
Nullifying the idea of a God

weed.....

That's correct.

God doesn't exist.

I've actually done a vid in dedication to her
Has a bunch of pics, clips of her, and audio recordings
In all honesty, its what i find to me my best yet
Its not only one song, but ties in pretty good with the songs it does have

Maybe I should experiment, something totally off from what I'd ever think of doing
hmmm

I call bullshit on that. I look at amvs the same way I look at art or writing, there is definitely such a thing as "editor's block" or lack of motivation. To say otherwise is really just asinine.
I call bullshit on your calling bullshit, it was kind of my whole point. This isn't asinine; it's my strongly held opinion.

I haven't done much work on any of my music, art, or my novel for two or three years now, but do you know why? I am busy doing other things. I am too lazy to be bothered to work out a schedule that would allow me to work on them all. I never believed in writer's block as a fiction writer, and I certainly don't now. I always felt, and continue to feel, that people who whine about lack of inspiration or failing to hear their muse are just being lazy. Nothing wrong with being lazy. I like being lazy sometimes. De-stressing is necessary. And there's nothing wrong with prioritizing differently and putting other things ahead, but just say that. I don't work on my novel because I think editing, and most of all, my career, is more important. I would much rather do nothing at night so I can be prepared for a full day of working with my kids than stress about putting in the effort to finish my novel and then be tired the next day. Priorities; novel isn't it. But I have never, ever suffered from writer's block.

This is the Queen of Spades

j/k I never played BS in a looong time. Hell, it's been awhile since I played a card game other than Hold 'Em. I was never good at BSing or bluffing, so I wasn't very good at those games

Caffeine has been a great motivator for me, and if that doesn't work than a break form what I'm doing does. But that's just me :/

Heh - I always wondered what would happen if I got to the end of my to-do list. I never have! But I do know that I wouldn't find it as fun and wouldn't be as happy with the end result if I just did an AMV for the sake of doing an AMV. Most of mine are playing with the characters, so there's a kind of overlap between the story in the song and the anime storyline (mostly as a parody) - I haven't really tried doing 'atmospheric' AMVs (what I consider nice footage spliced together)... maybe one day.

I guess I'm OK to not make AMVs. :P (time-consuming bloody things). Then I go with the inspiration if it comes, but I'm OK if it doesn't.

But if you're really desperate - look for an AMV comp on You Tube and make a video to go in that. =p

(plus - I don't listen to too much music, so try to stumble upon stuff if you're in the same situation - so go listen to AMVs on You Tube - yes, You Tube - that way if you find a song you like, chances are you'll be able to improve upon that AMV.) :P

That's you personally, just like you said, you're opinion. You not believing in writers/editors/wahteverthefuck block doesn't mean it isn't there and it doesn't mean that a lot of people don't deal with it. I have times where I have all night, all day to edit, nothing important to do, but I couldn't progress any further on a video just because nothing came to me. It's a very real thing, and many people experience it. You're entitled to your opinion on the matter, I'm more so arguing the way you said it on your post. :P

lazy and unmotivated feel different for me...

lazy = good relaxing feeling of just not wanting to do anything

unmotivated = negative, anxious feeling of i can't do anything
