Ok, so I'll give a few facts first as I'm guessing a ton of people find the argument to legalize marijuana rather stupid and ignore the matter all together. I mean, a drugs a drug, right?
1. Yes, marijuana contains more carcinogens then tobacco. However, that is why we have things such as bongs and vaporizers. The water filters out a lot of the carcinogens. Also, you don't smoke as many joints as you would cigarettes. Most "Stoners" smoke maybe 1-2 grams in a a day. I personally can make 3 grams last a month. That's not a lot at all, 3 grams is about 5 joints.
2. Marijuana DOES have numerous health benefits. This isn't stoners making shit up as a excuse to get high. Go Google it. I even found some articles in the BBC website. My grandmother has glaucoma, and if weed can help her, why wouldn't you let her use it?
3. As far as addiction goes, it's addictive in the sense that shopping can become addictive. The habit can become addictive though there are no ingredients that cause an addiction.
4. Stereotypes. Loose them. You have no idea how many people from different walks of life smoke weed. Check out a pro-weed rally sometime. You'll see young people, old people, people in hemp hoodies and people in suites (maybe some wearing nothing at all :O) . All from different races. Of course it's illegal, so not everyone is open about smoking it.
5. We don't care if you smoke weed or not. I have tons of friends who do and probably even more that don't. As Mithroch said, you do your thing and I'll do mine. Just don't think less of me because I do.
6. Making marijuana illegal is really recent phenomenon. It's been used for thousands of years for various things in the past. Mostly for medical benefits, but also for ... "spiritual" ceremonies ..."I CAN SEE GOODD!" rofl @ stoned priests.
7. Of course similar laws would apply to weed as currently apply to alcohol.
... tired of typing, I'll continue later >.>;
