Re: MADs
thanks, I am fluent in german since I am living here, so I will try it. Yes, IRC would be a good possibility. If I find something I will tell you. stage6 was great, but I don't like divX for vertain reasons, which are same as why xvid exists and why we use .mp4 and not .divx for out AMVs.

Re: MADs
Recently there have been arrests of Japanese citizens involved in fansubbing groups. This was in the Asahi Daily a few weeks ago. Japan has an ambiguous response to creative work like doujinshi and MADs with the LDP and the DPJ wrangling over what is and what is not fair use and essentially doing nothing. Fansubbing however, has met the ire of both the Liberals (conservatives more in practice, really) and the Democrats. Efforts to stop it on the home front has been stepped up. They have even gone as far as to print and put up posters telling Japanese citizens not to help with fansubs.Qyot27 wrote:The arrests (at least the ones reported) had to do with RAW sharing, or the leaking of police records. Have there been more far-reaching reasons yet, such as merely even running the software itself?
I would be very concerned that if my IP was traced, that my computers would be seized, and they would fine quite a few fansubs. And I have worked on fansubbing projects myself, so obviously, I am none too keen on the idea of using a compromised system.

Re: MADs
I haven't exactly been keeping up to date with the whole situation, but as far as I knew the only people they could persecute were the ones who actually uploaded the raws to winny or share. Has this changed?Kionon wrote:Recently there have been arrests of Japanese citizens involved in fansubbing groups. This was in the Asahi Daily a few weeks ago. Re: MADs
Cool. I'm no where near fluent but I still remember enough to navigate the site. I'm not sure how much I will really use nico nico... but at least not being able to understand the site isn't a barrier anymore (or at least as much of one)Qyot27 wrote:Actually, NicoNico has a German mirror site (http://de.nicovideo.jp/), so there is an alternative option.

Re: MADs
sorry to interrupt you. I got an idea. I can provide some space and traffic on my server for someone who has a decent collection of MADs and -- depends on how much it is -- I will provide it to download for anyone who likes to have a copy. So, if someone thinks his collection is some of the best MADs out there, please feel free to contact me!
