Requesting Yogurting definition correction

Post by Blue_Ninja0 » Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:44 pm

I was going to upload my AMV that is based on the opening sequences of the videogame Yogurting. But these sequences are completely anime-styled.

So when I saw this in the rules:
The video is an anime music video. For the purposes of this site, an anime music video is defined as a music video where the majority of the footage comes from anime. For the purposes of this site, anime-style video game cut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime".
I thought that it was fine since it's a video from the game which is, for all intents and purposes, anime.
But when I reach the part where I have to select the anime in the new video input boxes, I see that it's confirmed as non-anime.

So I ask for an admin to please correct that mistake that, IMO, doesn't coincide with the rules.
I really wanted to upload my video. Please?
Thanks.

One problem: it was developed in South Korea.

It was due to it being a product of Korean so there is no mistake on that part... However it seems to be now only going on a Japanese server and the promo was anime based (although still had Korean origins) ... So technically by the sites definition it's not anime... I"ll have to look into it a bit more before I can consider reversing the original decision.. However it would only be on the promo more then the game itself

Well, most animation is done in korea anyways.
The style of the animation is clearly in the anime style. If you were to show someone screenshots from yogurting and ask them "is this anime?", assuming the person knows what anime looks like, they would clearly say yes.

I know the rule about national origin is intended to keep out American shows and such, but south korea and Japan are very culturally similar in many respects.

It might make more sense to view it as what market was the show/game originally designed for rather than where it was made. It could be argued that the essence of anime are cartoons designed FOR Japan rather than cartoons design BY Japanese.

Granted, I don't know this source so this might not be at all relevant to Yogurting.

The same argument can be made for Avatar.

I bet you wouldn't say that to a Japanese or Korean person.

But yes, it's just the promo part obviously. I know that the game part doesn't even fit in the category of anime.

I also thought that the Japanese-only rule was kind of a counter to western style cartoons. I was hoping that, since it's completely anime stylized, it would pass.
Don't worry, I think even if you allow Yogurting you won't have a sudden avalanche of Yogurting AMVs.

Anyway, to make it easier for you to evaluate if it should be allowed to be uploaded, here's the YouTube(Boochsack? lol) link of my video (although I would really like to be able to show my video in something better than this "quality", like a-m-v.org  ):

(I hope it's just a wordfilter because I've read the forum rules and it says nothing about speaking about DumpTube. I hate it too if you must know. I wouldn't upload it there but at the moment I have no other choice, unless you want me to put it on RapidShare.)

I didn't really want to use this music but it just fit so perfectly with the rhythm...
It was kinda hard to synchronize because of it's fast pace.

The word filter is to "encourage" people to list their videos here instead of just linking to there and not adding to our database... O.o at least so I gather....
