AMV Contest Award Ceremony Time Changed
by elvis on Sat Nov 01, 2008 3:12 pm
Hey guys & girls,
Just a quick note to let everyone know that we will *NOT* be awarding the AMV Contest winners at the Cosplay halftime show, due to time constraints. Instead, we will be awarding the contest winners at Closing Ceremonies on Sunday. This is a correction to the program book you'll be seeing at the convention.
As always, If you are a contest winner and cannot make it to the closing ceremonies, I will email you for a mailing address and have your prize delivered to you.
Thanks!

Yeah, we should be getting those results soon.
I do know that Brad DeMoss' "Fix You" won best Drama/Romance (out of a crowded field of 15 finalists), as it should have, as did another editor's "Who Needs A King" for Comedy/Parody (out of a field of 8 finalists), again, as it should have.
As for me? I finished out of the money - I was told I finished a dull 6th out of 11 Action/Upbeat finalists. It didn't help that the category was "Action/Upbeat" which lumped my entry with the dancy fun entries that weren't primarily action-oriented to begin with. The presence of at least one video that had comedic elements in it in the Action category also hurt those of us that went for straight action videos.
I honestly didn't expect to win anything after seeing the 11 finalists, and I was not surprised to finish out of the money. I can only chalk it up to a wonky audience, using a series that's almost 20 years old (despite being "remastered" for re-released in the States), and just bad timing on my part. Not meaning "badly timed video" but just a "right place, wrong time" thing.
There's a tiny bit of good news: I was able to get the footage I need for my next (Otakon) AMV. Onward and upward....
