I'm fairly sure most folks have already noticed it's trolling-ness prior to your post and have just been silent to stay respectful (no matter how disrespectful trolling is). I know this for a fact. However, it's getting out of hand and I applaud you for finally calling them out on it.

...what's sadder is I can name at least two other folks that have trolled just as much this year. What is this 2002 all over again?
I've already stated my stance on this subject and thought it was already resolved back then. Guess not. *shrug*
I must've not seen this, but in all honestly I don't read the forums in great detail so if you have explained yourself...sorry.
Kazemon15 wrote:What's wrong with being proud of your video and wanting the whole world, not just one con to see it? Especially since that person has never won anything big before. Besides, the overall judge of who wins is the audience anyway. Let the audience vote for what they like. Besides, seeing your vid be "best of" is a very encouraging feeling which continues to make you want to do better...

So what if he trolled it a few times, no need to pushed him down for it...
There's a HUGE difference between being proud of your work and trolling. I'm pretty sure most people on these boards are proud of their work. Submitting it to 10+ contests (probably closer to 20) for 8 months is EXCESSIVE. I'm sure almost everyone here would agree. In fact, I know they do b/c it's been the subject of ridicule multiple times even if they don't post. In fact, I hadn't said anything the last few months since I figured it'd resolve itself like *most* trolls.

Sure the audience makes the decision (actually some were judge-based), but it's rude to the other contestants in the contest to see the same video winning OVER AND OVER. Especially if said contestants are actually attending the contest and that it's a local, smaller convention. That's just downright rude and frankly after winning some 'big' awards isn't it obvious that your video is considered 'good.' There's no reason submitting it after awhile. The data will be the same.

I'm sure what constitutes a troll will be argued (i.e. at what win count do you retire), but I'm fairly sure this instance rubs a lot of people in the wrong way and exceeds that threshold by a healthy margin. At the same time (to somewhat defend trolling), I will say that people should do what makes them happy (even if it's trollling), but everyone else is allowed to 'judge them,' disagree with their philosophy on things or find it rude. This is one of those cases and again, I'm fairly sure the majority of the community has similar beliefs.

I won't go any further since this topic has been beaten to death since 2002, but I stand by my comments on trolling and am quite sure many folks on the org would and already have thought this about that video (and about two more). I was joking with some people earlier, but I'm starting to really think this must be a record year for trolling or something. They've really upped the ante on it Castor :P.

...and since I said it'd been beaten to death for awhile, I'll stop with that. Oh and again, if you've explained yourself Nighthawk than this is all moot and apologize.

It also does not help that our con is late in the season and many people have already submitted videos to other cons over the year.

Many I noted have already retired their videos, so getting the big names in the community is harder for us.
I think its nice to have a good quality mix of videos for the audience to see.
We are a new con so getting entries is hard for us, that's why I'm working hard on getting cool prizes and I'm willing to ship them worldwide.

So it does not bother me so much at this point to receive entries from editors who already submitted to other cons. I'm sure as we get bigger the rules may change, but at this point I'm jumping up and down to have what we did this year.

It's also interesting to see the action category as the weakest in overall quality. Most other action videos in the contest had a hard time competing. Be a Man swept this category vs all the other categories where very close in votes.

Hey, Zanedomain, is it possible to get the rankings for all the videos in the contest? I'd kinda like to see how my vid fared, if nothing else. I'm not sure if that's rude to ask or anything, so if it is, I'm sorry ^^;

And haha, I was dominated by Night's manliness XD

Thank you to everyone who submitted, attended, or voted! I noticed some hits on my profile. My apologies, I will get copies of my videos up for download soon.

I am(by definition) a newbie, so please forgive this question. Could somebody define troll for me? I thought a troll was when you put one title on something and it was really something else(ie the bleach movie that was really a baseball game). What's the definition as used on these boards?

Back to directly contest related stuff... The videos were great! I also loved being able to get in and pick my seat first(as close to the center of the room as possible, trying to gauge crowd reaction). Thanks for the badge! For anybody else local to Utah I hear Michaels is having a framing sale(in case you wanted to get yours framed with the special UV glass too).

Thank you! I look forward to seeing your videos next year too!

Trolling is where, in the eye of an observer, that observer thinks a certain AMV has been entered too many times in a competition for any specified reason. This may not be perceived true by the original AMV creator, but by those who think so, as trolling is relative term used by the individual wishing to use that word.

There are many definitions of trolling. This is just one many :)

Terryh1984
