Inspiration for a new guy on the scene...

Post by xandox » Sun Oct 26, 2008 7:45 am

Hey. This is my first post peoples....

I've been seeing all these great amvs for a few months now and really want to get involved. In fact I've already started one... but I've been really intimidated by the really high standard there is. I'm having fun putting it together, but I feel like I'm going to get a really bad review cause i'm still trying to get the hang of everything...

Surely I'm not alone as everyone has to start from somewhere. So have any of you felt really intimidated of all those great vids with huge amounts of effects and what did you do to overcome them?

That's all that matters. Seriously, there should be no other standard than your enjoyment of it.

Nothing.

A clean, simply, well edited video is still a million times better than any of these videos with tons of fancy effects.

As long as you enjoy editing that's all that matters.
You shouldn't worry about your video not being as up to the standards of someone elses video or trying to overcome them.
Effects videos and non effects videos can both be good if edited well.
Just edit the way you enjoy editing.
If you enjoy editing with effects, then edit that way.
If you enjoy editing without effects, then edit that way.

People sure do make alot of threads about these kind of things..

Oh, and if you do use effects make sure the basic video is good first.
I think thats how its said.
What I mean is that some people tend to think that if you have a poorly edited video, adding effects to it will make it good or improve sync in it.
It usually don't work in those situations.
Make sure whatever effect you use actually fits good and is not just used to cover up something.

Im not good at using effects myself besides fades so that's the best advice I can give if you if you wanted to do a video with them.
Just remember that effects are NOT required to make a good AMV
and that if edited well, a video can be good with or without them.

What are those effects you speak of?

In my Top10 there are only two effects vids... and those are there just because I am gay for kewp ;<

So start working and show me something that puts you in that Top, bouzu :<

Clean edits mean a lot more than effect after effect. Effects are just icing on the cake, just be sure not to use too much.
