Compression problem, from Sony Vegas 8.0

Post by gabysango2011 » Fri Sep 12, 2008 12:56 pm

hi..
i started editing AMVs a long while ago, and i've been using Sony Vegas..but the problem is that i'm still not very good with the encoding part, and using Vegas only i can just encode a HUGE avi file, and i've tried countless methods to create smaller mp4 or avi files, but i just end up messing up the quality..
i've downloaded a bunch of amvs with such good quality, and also this is the problem why i just can't post my vids..they are way too big (my last amv is more than 1 gb, and it lasts around 3 minutes...)
Please someone tell me how to do this ^^
thanks

First, download the AMVapp, then export as an uncompressed avi (It'll be a gig or 2, or 15..) Then make an avs file as discribed in this amv guide. Then you use the ZarxGUI (which's included in the AMVapp) to compress it to MP4.

de-mystifying avisynth and the avisynth.org area for similar help

technical, a bit...but if you want great quality with a small-ish filesize then you'll have to learn it.

Hey guys,

I'm having the exact same problem (and, wouldn't you know it, I use Sony Vegas 8.0 as well).

I tried using the programs you recomended, but it isn't that it doesn't work... it doesn't even recognize my video.
When I try "open" or "New" or whatever on either one of those programs, my video doesn't even show up (as if it didn't exist).

My question is:

1) Am I supposed to convert my video before I convert my video? (does that make sense?)

2) Can I just say "screw the quality" and make my video smaller... and if so, how? What script?

Thanks.

Oh, before I forget.

In case you were wondering, I already used the "bicubicresize(320,240)" script.
I edited my video after doing this script, and it is still too big, even though it is only around 5/6 minutes long.
(Even if I cut the stinger out and put it down to 4/5 minutes, it is STILL too big.)
