AviSynth "ISN'T" Doing Its Thing

Post by paradiseyes » Fri Oct 24, 2008 8:46 am

Hey everyone,

I just installed AviSynth, etc... and am having some difficulties following the tut titled "Getting AviSynth To Do Its Thing."

After following the steps to a "T" and having my "colorbars.avs" file ready to drag and drop into WMP, nothing happens. In fact, it won't even let me drop the file into the player. When I right click the file, there is no option to "play" either, just what to open it with etc... and nothing will open it.

I'm getting flustered :x.

Could somone plz help me?

Thx

You need to use Media Player Classic.

The installer for AviSynth is in real need of refining. You can go into Windows Explorer and manually edit the entry for AVS to both Open and Play in Windows Media Player 6.4 (the one I'm referring to is mplayer2.exe, I wouldn't touch WMP7/8/9/10/11 with a ten-foot pole for this). As it stands, if everything is selected in the installer, then Open is made to use Notepad, and Play is mplayer2.exe or whatever. Which means really screwed up stuff happens.

Or, open it in VirtualDub. If it works there, you're golden.

Just make sure NOT to use the "Open file via AVISynth" option, as counterintuitive as that sounds. Open it like a regular video file.
