Is there a perfect band to fill any music video's needs?
I was wondering if anyone considered one musical group whose work is so versatile that they could easily be made to fit any amv idea.
This could mean the subject matter of their songs to the ways that they have changed and grown since they first became known to the world at large.
No doubt I'm mostly alone but I cast my vote for a very under-appreiated rock group from the 70's who are still touring today and putting out new albums as well. Blue Öyster Cult
What does everyone else think?

I think that the newer bands (late 90s, 2000's) some people would mention actually wouldn't be versatile enough to be able to do what you're asking. If any bands fit this description it would more than likely be older bands (pre-90's) because over the course of a decade (or two, or three, or 10) they would have developed a large range of material. And probably quite diverse as well, being as a decade or more is a long time to run with the exact same style without trying anything different.
So on that token most veteran bands (like the one you mentioned) would have a least a better shot of fitting the bill.
That being said, my choice: Mozart

All everybody does nowadays is sing about one of the following things:
1) They are in love
2) They want sex
3) They are angry about love
4) They miss their love
So in short, everybody is singing the same damn thing so really to me, there is no perfect band because all the bands in the world might as well be one.

Which is why bands that don't sing at all are the best. The Wired Knight wrote:All everybody does nowadays is sing about one of the following things:

What you just said was a horrid over generalization though, as you left out one of the more 'niche' topics of songs:
5)Killing people!!

Yeah I'd have to go with Rozard on this one. Mozart is pretty diverse. Most classical music has such a wide range that you can get a lot of different emotions and other things in one song. One... twenty or thirty minute song.
But personally, I like Tchaichovsky better.
Queen and U2 are good suggestions, as well. Lots of room for both of them. And... Pink Floyd!
