I'm in the middle of a project in Premiere 6. It was working a few hours ago, but now Premiere won't play audio (.mp3 or .wav). The audio track wasn't muted or turned off or anything. I tried creating a new project and importing a .wav to play, but there's no sound. When I place the .wav on the timeline it appears there, waveforms visible, but I can't hear anything when I click play or preview. The same .wav and .mp3 files play successfully in other programs. Video plays and previews just fine.
What should I do?
No audio in Premiere 6

Have you tried Re-installing the program? I run into similar problems with Premiere Pro once in a while where I cannot click anything. Usually restarting the program or the computer works but since that does not seem to be the case and you are sure you didn't click any weird buttons to disable audio playback, re-installing the program should help. And it should not mess with your project files.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to reinstalling Premiere (since the install CD is buried somewhere in my room). It's helpful to know that it won't mess with the project archives though.
I don't think I disabled audio playback in Premiere, but if I did how do I enable it?
Has anyone else had this problem before?

As mysteriously as it stopped working, Premiere has started playing sound again. All I did was plug my headphones into the jack (not USB, btw) at the back of my comp instead of the front (although now it works on either so I'm not sure if that's what did it). Thank you Autraya for inadvertently giving me the idea to do that.

I've figured out the source of this problem--post traumatic stress disorder. Every so often I work my comp too hard using Premiere and it goes to its happy place, where there is no sound and I can't make amvs. After a few days it recovers (especially if I distract it by dling a bunch of amvs).
Anywho, in the unlikely event that someone else has this problem (and runs into this in a google search or somesuch), my official answer to it is just wait a while.
