If I come up with a project, I pretty much just work on it and do almost nothing else (except eat and sleep) for a few days, until it's released - else I lose motivation. The rest of the time I do other things; I rarely do more than a few of these stretches a year. Well, that and the fact that due to having a lot of other things to take care of, I haven't released anything in the last year anyway
That's how it has been for my past two. I'd drag my computer to work and work on it during my lunch hour even. It hasn't gotten intense enough for me to whip it out on my lengthy train commute to and from work though at least. But yeah, when I'm working on it, I have my vision that I am itching to get out and it's a slow but sure process when I just work on a video straight.

However, I do have in mind the next two AMVs I want to create. I know it's going to take a while and now that I've accepted that, I don't plan to put a ridiculous amount of time into it per sitting. They'll get done when they get done which will probably be mid next year. I say that now of course, but just let me get started and that'll be all she wrote :P .

x2 - usually concentrated around a section of time in the winter and spring.
The video I'm working on now is something I've been working on since (no lie) 2005. Given I put it on the backburner for awhile, but I returned to working on it last Spring and hope to have it done by 2009.

See that's another thing with me. If I start on it and then stop, I may lose some motivation or other things could get in the way. But unlike you, instead of the back burner, it could be taken off the stove altogether.

I basically edit the way I draw...I edit in my head for a while until it's "ready for the real world" and then sit down and edit in a frenzy (I usually average anywhere from 2 to 3 days up to a week to do a video). I basically have to wait for the muse to hit me and then I edit until it's done.

Like with my drawing, I can't edit, stop for a bit, come back and work on it some more, etc. I have to sit down after work and on weekends and pound it out until it's complete.

Well don't feel bad. I have at least four videos 'unfinished' (some as far back as 2003) that I am debating just putting into one file and uploading to show what I had since I'll never finish them. I think the Fremmerlid Wonder Twins did that awhile back.

At the same time, this particular idea is something I'll never outright quit on. It's just too good and I want to see it completed /ego :P.

I edit when I have free time and I'm not doing schoolwork. Even when I have the time it's hard to get inspiration. When I get inspired to do a video, it usually takes me anywhere between a few weeks and a few months to finish. I also don't finish every video that I start, because I lose inspiration in the middle quite often. I'd probably say I finish 50% of my projects.

But I love editing, that's why I do it. Most high school kids spend their money on new clothes, not anime, extra hard drives, and video editing software XD

Sounds good to me! You could have your own little mini AMV Hell video going on. And I guess I can't feel too too bad. My incomplete projects are typically fanfics or games and I'm not nearly as into those as I've found I am with editing.

Well then we'll certainly be looking forward to this "fine wine" of a video you're brewing.

I produce maybe two videos a year. To be completely honest, these videos are created for one-two reasons. I find most of the time I get the editing bug when I hear a song that's strangely addicting to me, or I think "holy crap. I could edit that". For example, that's how my current video was inspired. I was watching an "AMV" and heard the Annie song and thought "holy crap. I know what to do now! " Originally, it was an iron chef with a fellow Arkansan, and now I'm just touching it up.

So usually, when I hear a song that I LOVE, I get the editing bug.

Or if I see an MEP I like. >_>

That definitely plays a part for me. Even with my first one it actually started out with me suggesting to a friend to use the song. When they wouldn't do it, I decided that maybe I could because the song was too good, too relevant and too gorgeous to be ignored. And that set the wheels in motion. :P
