Oh man... umm...

I'm assuming you can see the files in the source window? And what codec are you using under the render settings?

The timeline is the active window when you go to render, right? Premiere's got this finicky thing about the timeline being the active window, else it'll try and render whatever file is selected in the Project window. (So if the black video were selected in the Project window, and that was the active window, it'd render that instead of the video in the timeline.)

Or at least CS3 on Mac is that way. Just something to double check; it's thrown me before by doing that. =\
... yea ...

OK, apparently I changed something and now I have things at least showing up how they're supposed to be. However, once I render the preview, nothing shows up where the clip is supposed to be. I'm using the MJPEG codec included in the FFDShow codec pack. If you guys have any suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.

I don't think it's the codec since I was gonna suggest an MJPEG one anyway.

You got my brain running for a loop here. One of the last things I can think of. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere?

If that fails, then the very last thing I can suggest is to try VFAPI. Convert the AVS files to fake AVI ones and then replace your AVS files in Premiere with the new AVI ones. They should be exactly the same so if the replacement works, the clips in your timeline will change too. Also, when you go to render with VFAPIConv, it will also let you know if something is wrong with your scripts. I've had VDub like my script and VFAPI hate it.

Now you see why I abandoned using AVS files straight. I have a longer story as to why, but I don't wanna bore you.

I did try reinstalling and nothing changed. I've also tried using VFAPI, but every time I use it I get an error when I try to run the .d2v I ripped in it. It also doesn't see the avs files so I've given up on this particular effort for now.

I've got a decent avisynth script so I'll just use that to encode a lagarith copy of my source and go with that. Luckily, I have the HD space to do it, I was just trying to get this method to work so I didn't have to use it. Either way though, thanks for the help Krisqo

No problem. Wish I could have done more.

BTW, can you post your script? I just wanna take a gander and see if I might have forgotten to ask something. Like is there blood in your stool. (Weak "House" reference)

And also because VFAPI didn't like it meaning there must be something off.

The problem is that I can't get VFAPI to do anything for me. I try to run VFAVI and I get an error with a bunch of question marks and no real explanation as to what isn't working.
