AVS not working?
I initially pegged this as a problem with Zarx...
in this thread...
But I think I've narrowed it down and AVS doesn't appear to be working.
I've tried uninstalling amvapp3 and installing 2 since its not a beta but even that doesn't affect anything. I'm not getting anything to work with AVS currently. I've used AVS in the past but now its not working...this is a new computer though so its kind of new territory.
Usually I put in the relevent data and it works like a charm. But at the moment I can't even get a simple 1 line script to work. I tried just putting in the video with nothing else messing things up but it still won't work.
I get a general unknown error from virtual dub when I try and open an AVS script. I get no error just a crash when I try to open the avs with media player classic.
Also uh... when I install amvapp (I am using captured footage so I can switch around without screwing things up) when it gets to the tests it fails most of them.
not sure if that has something to do with the problem but it probably does.
My script was pretty basic since I can't get anything to work.
AVISource("E:\AVS\WordsVer24.avi")
I got advice that there was a possibilty of the combined audio screwing it up so I added a KillAudio() Line to no effect.
Any advice?

My advice to you good sir is to never trust installing programs that install more then one thing.
I got nothing against amvapp but It's just common knowledge that if you install a bunch of stuff all at one time you've got too many things that can cause problems for 1 thing.
Your better off just uninstalling amvapp and just finding everything you need seperately. Get avisynth from its host site and any all other things you need from their hosts too make sure your getting the highest versions (nonbeta) that work.
If the problem is still there then that means it has something to do with other software on your computer. Most likely windows applications or updates needed.

"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

hmm... ok after some tweaking of and trying removing different avs plugins I decided maybe a clean install of the whole shebang might help... I did it before but you never know. I did remove the obvious one that was a problem in that other thread and several other non critical ones... I think.
So now I've installed again and this time when I got to the tests the first one has failed. But not like it did before with no specified error. This time it says ran out of memory. If the AVS tests are crashing I'm not sure I did anything...
What causes that though? Thats the colorbars test right? before it just crashed. Now I've graduated to a ran out of memory error.
Any suggestions?
Second test has failed with an out of memory error as well.

aight an update...
Since my new rig is being such a pain I decided to transfer the file to my old computer and see if my old system had any better luck.
It didn't but at least I have something of an error there that I can maybe look up. I tried googling it but got a codec site...
Anyway the error is that the computer can't find the right codec. Its a uncompressed avi so I'm not sure how that comes into play. the error is that there is no fourcc codec.
Is that part of the new amvapp?
Is that something I should download to my old rig?
Does this have anything to do with my recent upgrade (on the new rig only) to Adobe CS3?

xvid and Huffy are both installed.
I am on Windows xp fully updated.
Aight I deleted the setmemorymax file from avs plugins and now the original rig gives me a different error.
CAVIStreamSynth: System Exception - access violation at 0x0, reading from 0x0
That pops up when I try to open my simple avs file in Media player classic.
If I readd my "killaudio()" line it does actually work in MPC. Thats ok cause I can work around that and just export my audio seperate. But a quick question... why would the top and botton of the image (essentially the edges) shake? I'm thinking I screwed up something in export if its shaking like that.
