1. Is it too much beat sync, or is it fine?
My simple answer is yes. What’s wrong with the sync is that you are strobing, although there’s enough fade in time to soften the impact on the eyes for each beach it’s still strobing. I’d suggest you try hitting the beat in different ways.
a. over lays or partial overlays, using track matte (premiere) or cookiecutters for vegas just at lowered opacity. There are several ways of doing this I’d suggest watching entangled chaos by flame –X, soul of an angel by er-mac & top gun by Prodigi each of these editors do the same thing with overlays just in different ways.
b. mixing black n white, colour, glow flashes/instead of the strobe
c. internal sync, that’s some tight editing when the movements and explosions in the footage it’s self hit the beat.
2. It's Multi Source footage, combining anime and game footage. The way it looks now, do you think it needs to be refined any? Meaning, is the anime/game footage idea bad for this video?
Nahh it works ok, it might be good to see a bit more integration. Such as pre empt the lead in the earlier part by flashing to KH or maybe use some of Munto in the KH segment as over lays, but that may or may not work.
3. How many sources are too many, as I was planning to use 10 sources.
when you run out of HDD space that’s when… or it’s 1 frame per source :p. It’s not the amount it’s that they fit together… sometimes multi anime video several of the sources just do not work due to animation style, not matching the colour/brightness/saturation and cleaning properly Or that just what’s going on in the clips is too different and not held together enough by a theme. The reason these two are working ok atm is that Munto has chubby cheeks and so does KH and both are relatively bright compared to each other
4. How is the concept? Is it well executed?
Not really… as in I actually didn’t notice there was one, maybe explain what it is to you and I’ll tell you whether I’m getting that and maybe some scenes to change to get it across more… does it have anything to do with reaching hands? Both sets of footage seem to have that.
And Finally, 5:
Do I need to cut down on the beat sync, or a better question, what beats do you think are the more important beats or beats that you think I should hit?
In the KH part you are actually missing a lot of the beats it’s more noticeable because of the heavy strobing before, I’d suggest doing a few more transitions (cross fades) in this segment as the flow is off, the clips are different speeds and with hard cuts it’s noticeable at 0.26 the camera pans away from the beach it needs to be a little later as the chick goes into the “Aaaaaaaa” and then it has a slower moving face shot…. This is what I mean by flow.
0.22 is good I really like the transition to KHs here
Kill the white flash at 0.24 and 0.35 (if you’ve got premiere try an additive dissolve instead) or a glow/blur/shine combo if you feel the need to go brighter.
0.32 you need to crop() your borders on the final encode each time it changes anime your AR are slightly different sizes.
When he puts his hand out in KH (the guy in the water whose name I can't remember) and you are jumping/skipping you need to make them more obvious atm they look like an opps while cutting, moke the skip in between longer with a 3-4 frame fade over the top as the next jump comes in.
humm and that's about all i could think of this early in the morning

Well, with this it's more of an editing style I've never done before. Pretty much going all out while keeping the flow. Kind like what my topic in General AMV is talking about. I guess you can say it's a collab between Onyx and myself. Pretty much it's about over the top editing. But I don't want to make it too over the top. No story-line or anything intended. Not really… as in I actually didn’t notice there was one, maybe explain what it is to you and I’ll tell you whether I’m getting that and maybe some scenes to change to get it across more… does it have anything to do with reaching hands? I hope that helps.

If that's the case then it's probably not a good question to ask for beta's because that's not so much a concept as it is just pushing the envelope on the way you edit. I'd suggest that formulating a solid concept/theme/story will help you with the look and feel and future scene selection, otherwise it'll probably just end up a random mess that makes little sense to the viewers. There's nothing wrong with making an experimental amv but the audience will enjoy it more if you have a strong concept.TwilightChrono wrote:Well, with this it's more of an editing style I've never done before.
