coming from a guy (see what i did there) who makes dumb threads all the time, thats not saying much...

Just an observation. I've never seen Death Note so i'm just wondering why everyone wants to use it for parody/comedy all the time. Is it because one person did it and won awards and now everyone is jumping on the band wagon? Or is there some other reason Death Note is the source of choice recently?

You really have to watch the show and experience it to understand :/ A lot of parts of the anime were way overdramatised from the manga and became the basis for parody. A thread like this will just get pointless death note hate from people who have yet to see it.

Other parodic elements of the show:
- Mikami
- Light putting on masks - one sec he is all nice then the next the scene darkens, we see his smirk and hear his inner thoughts then the scene jumps back into fake Light.
- Yaoi connotations between the two male leads
- A dumb leading female character

Better parody than action. I never understood the death note action vids. The most exciting thing in the anime is a guy writing. WTF was up with trying to make that into an action?

Kinda like all the Hikaru no go videos since the majority of the footage is a board game.

Hey, Yakitate Japan isn't like Death note or Hikaru, expecting you to take it seriously. When it goes over the top, it does it by doing things like making a character go super saiyan from bread, killing them, resurrecting their dead parents, or giving them checkered teeth.
