In the episode with the talking dogs, they kept calling Menchi 'she'.

And I think Menchi looks very much like a dog. The ears are the only thing that makes menchi look feline...maybe I'll go edit a pic to floppy ears and see the result. The tail is long but poofy at the end like a dog's tail.

I'm not really sure Menchi is supposed to be anything but an emergency food supply. Cat, dog, they all taste the same when grilled in teriyaki sauce and seasoned with pineapples, eh?
