I like my videos now more than I ever did when I made them. Which is why I haven't made another.

For me, it's extremely hard to put down a clip in the timeline over a fast drumroll part of the song and *not* strobe it.

Just done that recently. It's the only way to get through a Lucky Star Drama video.

As for the main topic, yesterday night I compared one of my oldest videos (a romantic Ryoga Tribute) to my newest (a rape-filled fest of violence). My inner-commentary was "Man, look what the internet did to your concept of love."

I always love watching my old stuff, since it was always important for me to put a deeper level of meaning in them, not as in pretentious elitist philosophical stuff, but rather just a personal level that makes it just that little extra bit more than just anime/live action/rl life footage set to music. Usually those that didn't have that extra aren't being watched by me anymore now. Or at least very seldom.

So I guess that would be my advice for those people that get embarassed over their old videos, if you'd at least put some of your heart in there somewhere that just can't happen no matter how badly the video is edited in retrospective.

I never said I didn't like doing them to share. Hell, I do it for the praise as well. But I also enjoy doing it. I love it when people just sit their and watch my creation over and over. It's a fantastic feeling. But there is always that niche in the back of your mind that says:

"I could have done way better"

And BOOM, you are already working on a new AMV. For me, it's just a way to better myself at something that I enjoy doing. Hell, I would love to edit as a career one day, as it is something I enjoy, I could easily edit all day for a company. But there in lies the next problem, you no longer edit what you want, you have to edit what they want, and thus, makes you not want to do it. I guess I kinda contradicted myself. Oh well, contradicting myself and answering myself are to different things. However, the day that I answer myself, and no one is around, is the day I quit. Too much alone time in my room.

I ask myself a lot of questions out loud when I am editing, I haven't answered myself yet, and hopefully, I never do.

I have went back and watched some of my old videos. I went and watched my very first one, I still have it as a matter of fact. It's a Naruto and Gundam Wing Combination. Don't laugh.....I was just following the popularity of the series back then. Ahhh, takes me back.

I've always been the main target audience of my videos, and I re-watch them regularly and enjoy them. There's definitely an improvement in the newer ones, generally speaking, but you know - the videos which I finished and released had always been videos which did pretty much exactly what I wanted them to do.

In fact, I sometimes agonize over betas and newly-released videos, but I've never had any conflicting feelings about videos I released long ago.

The ones I was serious on sucked, one or two come kinda close to what I mentally pictured before I started but most aren't even in the ballpark. The videos that were just for a cheap laugh are alright, they accomplished exactly what I wanted them to at least.

Mine make me laugh. Only my very first 2 WMM edited AMVs give me a nostalgic feel but my first sony vegas ones....no =_=

the fact that i actually was able ot edit anything with adobe premeir 5.1 crashing every 3 edits and only letting me import one video source and a whole 10 gigs of hard drive space.

Or even better yet the video that's on vhs which was edited using a vcr and camera while the song for it is being played on a separate device for timing purposes.

Been thinking long and hard about the way vids used to be and what makes older videos stand out is that everything isn't perfectly synced up to every beat.
