Sorry, apparently Matt and I are both getting hammered hard by good old real life and neither of us had a chance to respond before now. Yes, category creation, video nomination, and voting is on the same site you submitted through. Click Contests->Pro-> Submit (or Vote when the time comes). Please don't create any more stupid or condescending categories. They will be purged but it makes me grumpy (especially when it's done at 2am) and I have records of who's doing it.
As the initial email with download instructions indicated (though it sounds a lot of folks didn't get it or didn't read it) the original intent was to:
(schedule conjecture deleted. See MCWagner's post in the other thread for updated info)
For anyone new to the process, freshly created categories are immediately available for nominations. This does not mean they are approved. They can disappear completely (if sufficiently offensive) or blocked out (for any other reason). Aside from these administrative efforts, we try not to make any judgment on the validity of any one category. It's your contest, you do that through your nominations. Think a category's stupid or unworthy? Don't nominate. The volume of nominations will be taken into consideration when assigning final categories and finalist videos.

I think most of us saw that (I know at least I did...) but there had never been any actual solid dates that didn't involve an 'about', and with knowing that there download problems that were potentially pushing the dates back, we wanted to get a better bead on where we sat in the voting process- especially as (though doubtless you all are far more aware of this than us...) the convention itself is coming up very fast.kholaras wrote:As the initial email with download instructions indicated (though it sounds a lot of folks didn't get it or didn't read it) the original intent was to:
-give people a week to start getting discs
-open nominations for about 2 weeks
-open final voting for about 1 week
Due to the issues with disc downloads (updated instructions were only sent to folks that actively indicated back to Matt that they were having troubles. If you still have not gotten your discs and still need the info, please contact him so we know about it) nominations opened up a little late, about a week ago. They will probably go for another week at least. I don't think we have a specific cutoff date set, but there'll be an announcement so folks have a chance to go back and vote in any new categories that have appeared since they last visited.
Thanks for keeping us updated. You probably plan on doing this anyway- but I would recommend that when the cutoff dates are decided on that it be both emailed to people and posted on the voting page to ensure that everyone sees it (since doubtless not everyone reads this thread).

Actually, on the name and number issue on the voting page... I noticed that they both now exists, yet the list is still sorted according to the video title.
I'm not proposing this for this year, as I really don't want to cause more programming mid voting, but a potential solution for next year.
Make the list printed to the user sortable by both Video # and Title. This way, each user can sort the list to their preference, and everyone would be happy. This could either be done by sorting it at the page itself or by a radio button in the user information page.
It's a thought I came up with while casting my nominations, since I used video # as a basis for my notes (according to the cheat sheet supplied) and found scrolling up and down constantly to find videos in the numerical order I voted in rather annoying and time consuming.
