Adobe Elements 3.02 help with importing mp4
Sorry to bother you all, but I've been trying to import some Code Geass thats mp4 for days. I've tried downloading quicktime and googling my problem but to no avail. I don't know anything about codecs so I don't know what to download or to where on my comp if thats the issue. When I ripped it, the end of the file says x264 704x480 AAC and when I go into details its mp4 if that means anything to you experts. I would deeply appreciate some feedback, as I've bought the raw dvds and I've been waiting to do this for a long time.

I'd recommend using a ripping program that doesn't convert the video for you.
It'l take a little longer, take up more space and require a few more programs...but if you're aiming for quality then that's what you'll want to do.
the eadfag beta goes over what to do and the amvapp 3.0 beta has everything you'll need.
that said, if you insist on using your .mp4 files you'll have to use avisynth and virtualdubmod to convert your files to an editable format (usually using huffyuv or lagarith lossless codecs to put it into a .avi container)
refer to this page for help on vdubmod and this page for help on avisynth
When you do get around to making your script, download ffmpegsource() from here and use that instead of directshowsource() in your script

!!!
I think I'll try doing what you said to get the mp4 files to work right now, and to hopefuly expand my knowledge with these programs. However, in the future, I will change my ripping methods. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! I was so incredibly lost, but now thanks to you, I have a starting point ^_^
