Otaku Mex AMV Contest(Last Day till Deadline)
Ok I have decided to put out a call out for AMV's. I do not have a scheduel yet but I think we can do an AMV contest if we get enough vids in. http://www.otakumex.com
Ok This is a first year con and I dont have any fancy hardwear to do play back for this con so all the rules and crap will be simple for most
Here are the rules:
All submissions must be in a MPEG2 OR AVI format. Do not submit something in a VOB format. Do not submit your only copy of your work for I will not be mailing them back. There is no limit to the number of entrys you can send in but if there are time contraints on showing times there will be a limit to what will be shown. You can also submit your AMV at the con. As for the contest its self It will be staff and audiance judged so if you send in more than one vid only one will be shown for the contest and you will need to note wich one you want shown for that if not I will pick my fav of the bunch. All submissions need to be mailed to me by 9/1/2008, if you can not mail them in by then plz hand them to me by Friday of the con.
There will be no ban on content in the AMV just keep in mind that if it is seen as mature(18 and up) by the staff it will not be shown during the daylight hours of the con.
Online Submissions:Ok this will be lame but this is the best I came up with in short time. Plz send me a e-mail neorose2005@gmail.com and I will send ya a login and password for http://www.megaupload.com/ there you can send in your AMV for the contest. If anyone has a better idea on how I should do online submissions at little to no cost plz let me know.
MPEG SUBMISSIONS:
MPEG-2 are the preferable formats to submit in, as I will convert all other formats to the MPEG-2 format for display. If you are using a Windows PC there is a program called Tsunami MPEG Encoder at tmpgenc.net, it has a 30 day fully functional MPEG-2 encoder trial. For other operating systems there are MPEG encoders available.
Frame Rate: 29.97 or 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown upon playback.
Resolution: No larger than 720x480. All smaller content will be scaled up/letterboxed to this resolution. projectors and screens are setup for 4:3 aspect videos. Otherwise please letterbox wide content to conform to this resolution and 4:3 playback. Progressive or interlaced content is acceptable but please only use interlace if your vertical resolution is exactly 480.
Bit Rate: For maximum compatibility and minimal chance of stuttering, we recommend a maximum bit rate of 7500kbit/sec using either constant bit rate (CBR) or two pass variable bit rate (VBR. Suggested minimum of 2000kbit/sec, maximum of 7500kbit/sec). CBR is preferred since our experience with many VBR encoders exceed the set maximum occasionally resulting in severe spikes that will cause stuttering.
Audio: Please use layer-II audio at 224 kbits/sec or better, stereo (not joint stereo), and 48kHz sampling. AC3 audio meeting these specifications is also acceptable but not preferred.
AVI submissions:
If you are doing your video work on a PC it is very likely that you manipulate AVI files. Thought it is preferable to get MPEG files,I can accept AVI files. If you send an AVI file with a high compression CODEC on it, such as MPEG-4, DivX, or Xvid, the resulting MPEG file will not be as high quality as possible. The file has to be readable in VirtualDub, so modifying an AVI file to disrupt "editing" of it will be counter-productive.
Currently I have CODECs for:
• DivX
• Huffyuv
• Xvid
And any other CODECs that come standard with Windows. The same goes for the audio CODEC. We have not installed any extra audio CODECs, so check with us if you use anything except PCM, MP3, AC3, or Windows Media audio.
The resolutions and frame rates allowable for AVI files are essentially unlimited.
Submit all vids to the following address:
Justin Rose
12804 East 2nd Ave.
Aurora, Co 80011
If you have any questions plz contat me and I will let ya know
