Songs you listen to ONLY because of the AMV

Not all anime fans like Linkin Park (I sure the fuck don't like em).
But I DO like how some anime scenes match up well with some music. And when you combine a meaningful audio with a meaningful visual, you usually get something easy to recall mentally.
And like as was mentioned, once I have had a great amv combine a good tune and a good visual, I find I can only remember them together. Thereafter songs often become mentally associated only with the anime I went with.
I wonder how many musicians realize their own music videos are often not liked in the slightest.
I sure don't see Enya's video for Gravity of Love when I hear the song. I only see one of a few amvs I know have been used with the tune.

Most of my music is from AMVs. Before AMVs, I would listen to music once and a while but not nearly as much as I do now. If I'm home, I'll plug it into my dock 3/4 of the time. I ALWAYS bring my iPod in the car with me. I also only listened to mainstream before... like LP. |:
Now I got TFK, Tool, The Mars Volta, and the list goes on so far.

THats a neat point. Also raises some neat questions. Does doing such vids corrupt the eaning of the origenal song and should we really do that? It's not just in amvs of course i'm sure the people who owned singing in the rain were at least furious if not terrified when a clockwork orange came out. Wonder how Beethoven would feel about 95% of whats been done to his music.
Some times i hope that people do get into the music i use it's one of the reasons i've used Oingo Boingo so much lateley besides just the real depths the the whole band speak to me and many others i also view that more people need to hear their music. Because it's awesome. Pretty basic stuff.
Its an ironic catch 22 that we call for originality in vids then everyone uses the same artist and anime that they were before. Going against that grain leads to people scratching their head more then anything. Quite ironic.

AMVs have had a HUGE impact on what I listen to. For example, I listened to this mix in my car for three hours a day (long drive) for a two months.
Uber Mix 6.0
Code Monkey - Jonathan Coultan // AMV reminded my to get this
Rev 22:20 - Puscifer
Tomorrow Comes Today - Gorillaz
Lifelight - Andy Hunter // AMV
Digital Love - Daft Punk
The Last Firstborn - Celldweller // AMV
Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams - Threshold // AMV
Princes Of The Universe - Queen // AMV reminded my to get this
Life Is Beautiful - Sixx A.M.
5. März - Megaherz // AMV
Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crüe
Pet - A Perfect Circle
Hooker With A Penis - Tool // MEP got me my to rip my Tool albums
Spirit Never Dies - Masterplan // AMV
Dragonforce MEP - Dragonforce*****
**** I took their FLAC encoded albums and re-mixed this eniter thing myself because the 128kbps sounded like crap in my car.

Well either you thought I'm just one of the mainstream listening-boys or you really don't know me at all outside of the AMV circle thingy...Ingow wrote:ITT I am surprised to see that statement coming from you.Scott Green wrote:Most of the 'good' stuff is not used in AMVs. I mean music you really can dream to and or relax yourself to is mostly not that AMV-able. But nevertheless I found quite a few bands I like over AMVs. But still most of the stuff used here is the mainstream-stuff... well i mean the bands everyone knows when they look into music a bit, not the TV/Radio stuff...
or I'm just getting mature for once...?

It's just that with all the NIN worshipping going on on your last.fm it kinda surprised me that's all. Not hatin' or anything, just that most of your charts on there are pretty AMV-able and HAVE a lot of AMVs set to that kinda music, maybe not on the org but yknow youtube users count in this case I guess.Scott Green wrote:Well either you thought I'm just one of the mainstream listening-boys or you really don't know me at all outside of the AMV circle thingy...
