Something about college budgeting plus going TO Japan to study for 4 months next year means a touch of restraint. Just a touch...

Besides.... you Canadians and your strong dollar :p

Although admittedly if it were not for the fact the show IS 47 episodes..... I'd be happy weeping at my empty wallet.

BTW... sorry for my contribution to the spam of Shinkai. Was not expecting QUITE so many of them until I saw how many popped up in Otakon and in Vlad's contests. I will be annoyed as much as anybody else after seeing all the identical vids.

I think your more likely complaint in this case would be more related to your wanting to actually legally obtain your source footage.

Hopefully though they'll get off their asses and release it domestically soon.

I only had the chance to watch through the first 5 or 6 videos, so I'll refrain from commenting too much yet. At this point, I'm in the position of deciding whether I should watch the Pro discs or try and finish the video I wanted to submit for Expo (but that I probably have no chance of finishing before the Friday night deadline). Want to watch videos! Must edit! Aaaahh!

To me there was nothing really spectacular, but there is a dozen or so that are good solid interesting videos.

What I found interesting this year is that I feel there are some videos that definitely should win awards, but they don't fit any sort of category so I have no what they will or should win.

Last year there were several videos that just jumped out and screamed "Drama" "romance" "Comedy" "Action" etc. but this year we just don't have that.

While this contest is one where we should not have to worry about videos fitting into categories, I hope we can all be creative enough to come up with categories that will give these videos the recognition they deserve.

The very fact alot of these don't fit into the normal categories pleases me, it means we are breaking out of our pre-determined ideas of what an AMV has to be.

NO not you guys who entered almost everyone on this forum. Do me a favor and don't enter next year if indeed to you this contest sucks.

If this contest sucks then do us all a favor and get out of it so it'll suck less. Quit dissing all the editors yourself included and stop PISSING all over the hard work of Wagner and Company. They put a lot of work into this contest that they never get enough thanks for. I don't care how many vids you've done how popular you are as an editor. You don't talk BS about the people who bust their ass for nothing but the satisfaction of putting on a good contest.

They're working even now on this so much so that they don't even get a chance to do much else. So i am defending them because they're busting their ass for your hobby you dumb Schmucks. And you wanna piss all over that and all the editors Screw you. Your acting like a bunch of spoiled children playing HALO 3 on Xbox live.

So yea in a round about way thanks Wagner and co for putting together a good contest and don't think that everyone is a prick about how much work you guys put into this. Thanks to the editors that put their hearts into their video i especially have liked the Persepolis vid so far.

The Haters can go to hell... NOW.

Have a good pro watching this year guys.

I don't think that people are bitching about the contest or the coordinators, but all the entries that made this contest rather bland...

as for my thoughts on the contest as a whole, only one video really stood out as best in show for me (and no it wasn't mine)... so I know what I'm voting for there.

As for the categories, I've no clue, like some others said, I agree that nothing really stood out for specific categories in my opinion, so this is going to be an interesting vote when it comes up.

I did put a lot of work into my video, and even if its "bland" or boring to some, it has meaning to me, but that is fine if others don't see the meaning.
